Professor Abate is a nice guy overall but his lectures & power points are very boring! He goes on & on about things that we didn't need to learn. He forgets what he is saying most of the time & talks with a heavy accent. Didn't use the book at all! But still got a C in the class even though i didn't do so great on the tests. Tests are very long!

Nothing he says in lectures is what's on the tests. The tests are EXTREMELY hard and long. I barely have time to finish taking them. Everyone gets a D except for like 2 perfect students (he says so himself), so there's no curve most of the time. On top of all that he's extremely boring to the point where you feel depleted after class.

I embrace "DIVERSITY" and "STRENGTH" however, his strongly diverse accent and weak vocals in a room w/ terrible acoustics doesn't help when you're trying to pass a class and actually learn as much as you can. But he's a sweet teacher, very understanding, and professional...don't expect to be babied throughout the class. Your textbook is your friend

This class is based on how much you can retain. Each test consists of 3-4 chapters. Do you know what to study? Nope. He takes roll first couple of weeks. Your grade is based on 2 test, 1 midterm, and final. An assignment or two is given. I don't recommend this professor. If you take him, good luck!

Based on the reviews I thought this class was going to be impossible. Not the case. He's a hard teacher but your grade depends on how much information you can retain from the textbook so if you've got a good memory and decent work ethic doing well shouldn't be impossible. The curve is your best friend on the exams though.

Mr. Abate is very moody at times. Overall, he does know what he's talking about, but he never pinpoints what is important or not for tests. We had a presentation and no one had any idea exactly what they were suppose to present and most ended up repeating what he had already lectured on. The class really isn't that hard.

This guy was just ridiculous. you could not understand him and nothing he ever said was on his tests. he also would make you come to his office hours to pick up a test if you missed when he handed it back which was very inconvenient.

DIVERSITY is STRENGTH. Why wont people CELEBRATE DIVERSITY!? Profesor is diverse- deal with it- you need to learn to understand OTHER people and stop being so ethnocentric

I found professor Abate to be VERY unhelpful. He is hard to understand, he does not encourage new ideas or much discussion at all. You also don't know your grade or where you stand in his class until the end when you see your transcript. He provides no extra credit and little to no help!

Nice guy on occassion but I cant understand this teacher for the life of me! BEWARE His classes are very boring, you'll find yourself wanting to jump out the window! You'll do best in his class if you have a knowledge of geography already but, I wouldnt count on writing notes since their the same as in book.

we are three weeks in thus far. Every class, more than one person falls asleep. Not sure where this class is going or what is actually important. He does not pin-point any of the information. Hard to Understand!

He is very boring. Even a committed student loses focus. The worst is his Power points that he needs to update, you cant take any note because you dont understand his accent and his exam is very tough compared to his level of teaching standard.

I'm a Geography major and came into the class with enthusiasm, but this teacher just turned the most interesting class into the worst class in my college career! He has a very strong accent, does not involve the class whatsoever, and is in no way helpful. He made the subject material boring & the class was just awful. He needs to retire already!

Not clear, tests are based on the book but still very hard because you have to guess whats important. Plus very boring, classes always dragged and was the most painful hour+ in the whole semester. Take another class or another Prof. Its possible to pass however very diff. to stay awake.

Professor Abate is a really nice guy. He is at times difficult to follow because of his accent, and his overhead notes are written in cursive. I enjoy his class. YOU NEED TO READ THE BOOK BEFORE CLASS! If you put in the effort, it will pay off. I encourage discussion in his class, don't just sit there!

Just a bad class period. Abate is not clear and hard to understand, you get use to it but then he isnt clear about what is important. Test are hard cause he asks questions he thinks you should know...thats hard when his lectures are terrible...AVOID THIS PROF!!!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE, NOT WORTH YOUR TIME,MONEY, AND LEARNING POWER

This teacher has some pretty brutal tests that are curved, for example, the high end of the curve in our class only got around 50 out of 75 multiple choice question correct. Allow me to give you the heads up: All multiple choice questions are based on the book reading assignments not lectures and dont expect a stude guide on what you need to know.
