Not a problem. Do your assignments. Improve. show up to class. Its more or less a free spirited class. He is there to help if you want him to help, otherwise he will leave you alone to draw. He may ramble about oddball subject material, but I find it interesting. Not a full blown "teaching" type of class. More - do your thing/and he will give pntrs

He was a really fun and interesting guy. He's definitely NOT a normal teacher and most classes are uninformative and pointless. I only recommend him to students proficient in drawing, but need credit. His classes aren't structured and are very laid back. Just draw often and you'll be fine. Most of the time he just rambles on and won't bother you.

Has no teaching ability at all. Like other students said, he can be disrespectful and moody. He wasn't even in the classroom half the time. Projects were never clear. Decides your final grade by skimming through your portfolio. Really couldn't stand the class. I got a B, but it wasn't worth sitting through his class all those times.

BAD TEACHER!! will not give As to anyone!! he is always in the clouds and doesnt know how to communicate at all! he expects students to read his mind! it doesnt matter how much you try and improve your drawings. he is just the type of art teacher you SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM! he can be fun to talk with tho. but not if you want to learn about drawing!

This person is is NOT a Teacher nor a Professor!Moody,screams at students no matter if they are above their 40's.Disrespectful,has no clue how to teach,does not explain anything and gets angry if you don't know how to handle different materials (Wood, Metal, etc.) which you are supposed to learn in class.Plays favours big time! I went through this semester utterly frustrated with this guy, I would be flattering him by calling him a teacher. The worst waste of time ,We were given a list of supplies to buy that we never used.I could have taught the class better. Don't waste your money or time with John Aakesson

I love drawing. It's sad for me to say that this class with him was a waste of my time and money! I honestly don't even know how he graded us. The only grade we got was our final portfolio, which he only glanced at. He didn't teach us anything, no curriculum, and would always ask 'what we felt like drawing.' I don't know how he's a professor >:-(

Never available to contact, vague syllabus, didn't teach, only told us what to do, argued over small things and was snippy. Made some girls cry. If you want to learn anything, don't take him. If all you care about is getting through an easy class and don't mind a strange and uncaring teacher, take him.

okay guy but a poor teacher. very unhelpful and not so hot at drawing. Plays favorites. his assignments are made up on the spot and are uncreative. despite all this, the class is easy and could be way worse.

Even if you are DESPERATE(which I was for signing up late for classes)I HIGHLY reccommned NOT to take him. If you are serious about majoring in Art his class is plain easy, boring, and unhelpful. He explains the projects poorly and they're not even very creative and when there are group discussions they are meaningless!

He tries to be very friendly and helpful, but is often vague in the project criteria until after the drawings have been started. Class attendance and on-time assignments are a must, and factor into the grade. No lecture or instruction at all. He simply has people work on projects the whole class, and promotes interaction. Very easy class.

he is such a wierd teacher. take his class if u can kiss up to him. he is mad one moment and the next he is ok... he freaked me out. he is a helpful teacher but he talks alot and sometimes he is just annoying. he ended up making 3 girls cry through out the semester and argued with so many students over nothing. there are no exams only projects.
