Professor explains things reasonably well. Expects you to be able to derive formulas and leave calculations in variables. Stingy with partial credit on exams and quizzes. This class is exceptionally difficult and requires lots of hours a week working textbook problems. Do not take if your chemistry and algebra are weak.

Demetre Economou is the Best Professor I had in the grad school. Knows the subject, doesn't just follow the textbook - gives the recent development examples.

He is far better than Cirino, but this class is still incredibly difficult. My only real complaint is his grading. On the exams/quizzes, the answer must be correct to get anything but minimal credit. Also, there is no curving whatsoever so if you have below a 60, you are in trouble. It looks like this class has finally done me in. Good luck...

Attendance is manditory, you have to sign in every day. Listen to lectures but expect to research google for the answers to the homeworks. Its not a hard class, one hour once a week. Every week is a different person talking on another topic related to ChemE. Saw Economou twice.

Very hard class. A weed out class. He is a better teacher than Patrick Cirino, but since he is better everyone does better than they would have done in Cirino's class. The class avg. is around 50. Try to practice as many problems in the book and workbook as you can. He doesn't give that many tests and quizzes (2 tests and 2 quizzes).

This is a hard-core class that helps to fail students who are not ready for chemical engineering. Dr. Economou is funny; HOWEVER, he is NOT, in anyway, helpful. His lectures (even reviews >.< )come from textbook and solution manuals. Do ALL (not just A LOT) problems suggested in lecture notes and work-book and you will pass.
