Sociology 024 Taken for Credit:Yes Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: B

Professor Ireland is by far the best. Her lectures are really interesting and she's very sweet. She doesn't assign a lot of work and the in class work is pretty fun. On quizzes she allows open book for a certain amount of time. Her lessons are relatable to her students and she is really good at teaching. I HIGHLY recommend her class!

This professor makes you work hard for your A. Take good notes of her unorganized lecture because it will be on the exam. Make sure to read the book because she asks detailed-specific Qs on her exams. There are a total of 3 exams in her class-2 exams are matching, multiple choice, T/F and 1 essay Q. Final is all of the above excluding essay Q.

This teacher does not spoon feed you. All her lectures, write it down. It will be on the test. STUDY STUDY for the tests! She gives 3 tests, including final. First 2 tests had 10 EC MC but that is it for EC. THIS IS NOT AN EASY CLASS! I worked hard during this summer intersession. READ THE BOOK, HIGHLIGHT EVERYTHING, & WRITE NOTES ON THE SIDE!

She's very clear on what she expects from you! Attendance and participation counts towards your grade so if you're shy about presenting in front of the class then this class is not for you. Also tests are very easy! Study study study! AND you get to use open book for 30 mins on the exam. Also take good notes in class! TAKE HER! She's fantastic!

EXCELLENT professor! Very clear on what is expected. Goes over everything in class to prepare for the tests. Very personable professor! I am honored to have had the privilege of taking her class! Definitely one of the best of PCC professors just on personality alone! Not to mention all the theories your learn to perceive society in the real world.

Professor Ireland-Galman is very very knowledgeable in her field and makes the topic of sociology really engaging for students. I've taken her honors section and though there is ALOT of material that is covered in each test, it's a good challenge to have. The tests and class are revovled around the text. 3 tests (including final) and 2 papers.

I love Prof. Galman! She is an amazing prof. They way she teaches is very engaging, and she expects you to be interactive in class discussions. You watch a lot of videos and they're in tests so take notes. Her tests also cover up to 5 ch. each so make sure you do your reading. Be there on the days she does her T/F and analysis papers!

She is wonderful! Her test can be tricky but, keep up with the reading, study, and you will be fine. She holds you responsible for getting the information on the days you miss (so make a friend fast). Don't be shy if you have questions. take advantage of her office hours she is very helpful.

SOC001 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

Very knowledgeable about sociology. You have to buy the book. If you study the worksheets that she gives you, you should do fine. Memorization is a must but she is a great teacher. Exams are 30 min without the book, 30 mins with the book, and another 30 mins with the book again. I took her for marriage and family as well.

Dr. Ireland-Galman has a deep passion for sociology and is an excellent professor. Well at least for marriage and the family course. She was very insightful, lectures were really interesting and shes kinda dorky. Tests were a little tricky so make sure to brush up and read. I had an A but didn't study for one of the tests ended up getting a B :/

You might as well take the online class with a different prof. Pure memorization. The only thing thats good about this class, 30 min open book for her tests. Make sure you do well on the 3 tests she offers and do ALL of your presentations. She does not give out easy A's, she said it herself. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE! 5 chapters per test. Sometimes 6.

My second class with her -take her, take her, take her. Also take good notes, they count for a lot of the test material. Lectures are always interesting but not for the shy or squeamish - uncompromising in her analysis of the truth. Very good preparation for university level work - requires you to take responsibility for yourself. Recommended.

Mrs. Ireland-Galman is a very intelligent woman with a lot of useful information to teach. She is, however, very unorganized and doesn't have a knack for being able to simplify concepts and build upon that. You will do a lot of reading and studying in her classes. Much of what is on the tests is not from lectures, it's from the text.

A cool professor. Always smiling and laughing. Tests are easy and as long as you take good notes, you'll always be OK> Very helpful, although we watched a ton of old movies and videos that sometimes seemed outdated. Very sweet though. I'd take her again.

Ireland is one of the nicest professors I've had. She is extremely passionate about her student's academic success and not to mention her sense of humor is just darling. She is such a caring professor and I definitely recommend taking her class. The textbook is required. 3 exams so every point counts, so make sure you're studying!

She's so-so. 2 test (with essays) and a final. Many group projects and participation is required. Need both to pass, no choice. Must read the book and complete the handouts prior to her tests in order to get a good grade. This class is like a class at a university level, you are on your own most of the time.

I wouldn't call this class easy, but it isn't exactly hard either. I ended up with an A. The class consisted of 2 group presentations, 2 tests, and a final. Group presentation was super easy and a waste of time. Tests and final are open book for 30 mins but they are very challenging. Read the book, fill out the handouts, and study them repeatedly.

I took her Socio 1 class this Fall and found it to be very interesting. It is very clear from the beginning of the class that notes and reading on YOUR OWN TIME are essential in order to succeed. She gives out a study that really helps you prepare for the tests (3 of them). There is also some group work! Be sure to study ahead of time or else.
