MAT Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

Sam may move a little quickly BUT he always makes himself available via email or office hours to help with anything! Anyone who fails his class is simply not applying themself, seeking out the help he has to offer. He's always open to in class discussion/questions. Don't understand something? Raise your hand. He will try repeatedly to explain.

Great guy. Really cares about what he's teaching. Loves answering questions and helping people. PreCalculus is hard, but Sam definitely helped!

Sam is always willing to answer questions. He only goes fast over the subject if you permit it. He is easy to approach with questions and keeps open office hours for help and uses email. If you are not confident with math 092/098 then of course upper math classes will seem difficult. Work hard and speak up! Sam's classes are great!

I would say to only take Sams class if you feel that you are strong in mathematics, but I thought that math was a strong suit of mine and had to take this class twice. The first time, I got an F, the second time I got a C. He is was way too fast, covered too much material in too little time, and didn't offer much useful extra help or extra credit.

If math is already a troublesome subject for you, DO NOT take Sam's class. He takes shortcuts and doesn't explain what he's doing. Little to no individual attention. Would not allow me to do extra credit work to catch up with the class. Nice guy, but not a good teacher at all unfortunately.

Dunno why people are always complaining about how tough this guy is. Algebra has never made more sense to me thanks to Sam.

MAT127 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

Sam is a great teacher. While he does sort of move fast and use shortcuts, he leaves plenty of chances to ask questions if you don't understand. He teaches math, so of course he won't waste time explaining things if people aren't asking him to stop. He knows what he is talking about and he's a funny guy too, very laid back.

If you read these ratings before you add a class! DO NOT TAKE SAM'S CLASS UNLESS YOU ARE STRONG IN ALGEBRA!!!! If you have just enough algebra knowledge to pass the accuplacer avoid this professor. He goes too fast and designs his test with "tricks" to trip you up. Only those with very strong algebra skills should take his class.

I am still trying to figure this guy out, but what I can tell so far he is very fun, animated and passionate about math. He only gives 4 tests a sem. which is worth 65% of your grade He is willing to help whenever asked. He sometimes skips steps while solving probs. which confuses me a bit. ( I think he just may think they are common sense)

Sam does a god job of trying to cover all the material that the course is designed to teach in a short amount of time. He's enthusiastic and a good teacher; he's helpful during office hours etc., but you have to work really hard to do well unless you've taken a good amount of algebra before. Overall I'd recommend him - he's not boring!

I have only been to two classes and already he has tried to cover at least 10 different operations of algebra. He moves to fast, and doesnt explain things for the student to understand properly, he is more or less explaining expecting us to know exactly what he is referring to. He's new and needs to iron things out a little better.
