CHEM30B
I had to read along in the book to have any idea what he was talking about. Boring and unengaging. Not clear about what will be on the test.
CHEM30A
I was excited prior to going into this class. He doesn't explain things well. I had to teach myself with youtube videos and the textbook. He gives you way to much info and says certain things are on the test but really aren't. Really hard class.
Chem30B
Eh.. Not a good teacher. I taught myself most of the material and hardly showed up to class after he stopped taking attendance. He's a nice guy but not a good professor. The labs are Extremely unorganized. Hes an easy grader, gives partial credit, and drops one lab and lecture quiz so it's not an unbearable class.
Chem30
If you are good at teaching yourself everything with no guidance you'll do fine, but don't expect much clarity from him. Sweet man, but he made the material and class harder/stressful than it should have been just because he can't he can't communicate with clarity what it is he wants us to know. Half of the class dropped so go figure...
Chem30B
He's such a sweet guy who is willing to help you as much as he can. He not like other instructors who try to hurry you out of cuz they need to go home or something. His tests are pretty much from his notes and the final questions are similar to his midterms so if you study all of your midterms and quizzes you'll be fine on his final.
CHEM25
Schaffert is a very good teacher. He explains things well and is far more than just a powerpoint monkey. I'd suggest doing many odd# questions on paper written the same as one would on a test. Follow his instructions very precisely. Chem 25 is an interesting course and seems carefully designed. Highly recommend both course and teacher.
CHEM30B
He's a great professor teaching a difficult subject. Of course there will be a lot of work, so you can't be lazy. FOLLOW HIS INSTRUCTIONS to the letter! His lectures are engaging and you can tell he really enjoys what he does. Anyone who's made a committment to school should do well in his class. The negative reviews must just be sour grapes.
Chem30B
Professor Schaffert is a quirky, joyful teacher. He is excited about chemistry and is willing to answer any and all questions. He really wants his students to do well. If you do all of the recommended and assigned homework, follow the lecture notes, and utilitze the Mastering Chem power point slides, you can easily succeed in this class.
chem25
wow, this teacher can not teach, he may know the material but he does not let the students know that he knows. Do not take if there is another teacher available, you will struggle to learn if you depend on him and will have to do a lot of learning on your own.
CHEM30A
A pretty decent chem teacher. There are 3 quizzes, 3 midterms, 10 labs, & 1 final. He lets you drop your lowest quiz & lab but you really shouldn't depend on that to save your grade because they're not worth much. Exams are doable and he rarely ever puts anything he didn't discuss in lecture in it. An easy B but you have to work a bit for an A.
chem30A
He cannot explain the material in a fluid understandable manner. He assumes we already know the subject. If you don't memorize the textbook, you won't do well in his class. He only has 1/2 hour before and after class to help everyone, so wait in line! He does answer emails but his answers are not clear.
CHEM30B
Horrible teacher. He talks in circles and can't manage a lecture without talking about things way to in depth for this level class. He needs to stick to the teaching material and not higher level chemistry material.
Chem30B
He is an excellent teacher. He is helpful and considerate. Follow his instructions you can get A. If you are a lazy guy don't take his class. Quizes and Mid-terms really help you. Work hard! 30B is not a essy class, but with the help of Schaffert, you will enjoy this class and like Chem from the time you are in.
chem30B
He is extremely helpful if go to him and ask questions. Lecture is based on textbook, if you read ahead and do all the homework, this is an easy A class. His exams are not hard, although some parts are tricky. Recommended!
Chem30A
Mr. Schaffert has a vast knowledge of chemistry, and obviously find the subject very interesting. However, his lectures are rather convoluted and involve sudden jumps to 'Extra Credit' Chem 1A information that only serves to confuse and distract. Not recommended unless you have excellent study skills and can find a good study buddy.
CHEM30B
While he may be SUPER excited about Chemistry in class he very often talks himself in circles and repeats the same idea numerous times, making the class more confused than when it started. He's got his ticks, but know his stuff. I recommend taking Mark Zheng instead, even if you have to go to DeAnza.
chem25
Mr. Shaffert is so helpful he really cares and wants his students to succeed. This is a really good class to take even if you aren't so great at science.
Chem25
Mr Schaffert is indeed a helpful teacher. He cares about students, and has the passion in teaching chem. The quizes and tests need lots of studying, but if you do the homework he assigned, you'll be ok. I was a student who was poor in chem, but got an A in this class=].
chem030B
Mr. Schaffert is a nice guy that really wants his students to do well. There is a lot of studing, but follow your notes from class and you will do well. I found this course much more interesting then Chem 30A. I feel more confident in chemistry now that I have taken Mr. Schafferts Chem 30B.
