"There for you" "Lectures are long" "Big time extra credit"

Schaffert is definitely willing to help you with any questions you have. He is very devoted and wants you to do well. He offers a lot of chances for extra credit on homework, tests, and quizzes. Read the chapters and do his recommended homework problems.

"Tests are tough" "Skip class? You won't pass." "Tough Grader"

I do not recommend this teacher for chem30B! He is horrible at explaining anything. The way he lecture is too confusing to follow. His notes are all over the place. His quizzes and test are nothing like anything he goes over in class. Multiple choices are tough. Does not answer questions clearly. Picky with answers. DON'T TAKE PICK HIM!

the guy is Ok as a person. what i had a problem with is his lectures and overall lazyness. lectures were not even his, i should receive a grade from mastering chemistry. anything he added to the lectures confused everyone and made it difficult to learn. poor teaching style poor people skills does not respond well to suggestions

One thing is that you earn your grade. This class is easy if you study. If you don't study it's difficult. Textbook wasn't much use. Tests are based off lecture, ppts, and hw. Needless said, great professor.

Great Class this summer. Advice is Take chem30A, take Bio classes then take Chem 30B with Schaffert. Everything will make sense. Got an A- but studying the notes plus online hmwork paid off. I will definitely will take another class with him. Very nice person.

The class was not was not easy, but I managed to get an A-. Take notes EVERYTHING that he writes on the board. Study all of your notes and go over mastering chem. homework before exams!

This professor was by far one of my favorite teachers. Chemistry is a hard subject, but he managed to teach it well in order for his students to understand. I would definitely take another class with him.

First time taking chem so it was all new for me.I studied so hard for many hours and even had study sessions with my lab partner.Labs were not terrible but time consuming. I seriously had no life this quarter and in the end still only ended up with a B-. The subject was really hard and not so much the teacher. He is really nice. Chem is terrible

A very good teacher of a very tough subject. He is very sweet and knowledgeable about the subject. He really wants students to succeed in his class and will help you as much as he can. He's very straight forward and you get to drop lowest exam and quiz score. Great teacher and awesome person! Highly recommend.

I had to read along in the book to have any idea what he was talking about. Boring and unengaging. Not clear about what will be on the test.

I was excited prior to going into this class. He doesn't explain things well. I had to teach myself with youtube videos and the textbook. He gives you way to much info and says certain things are on the test but really aren't. Really hard class.

Eh.. Not a good teacher. I taught myself most of the material and hardly showed up to class after he stopped taking attendance. He's a nice guy but not a good professor. The labs are Extremely unorganized. Hes an easy grader, gives partial credit, and drops one lab and lecture quiz so it's not an unbearable class.

Chem30 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: N/A

If you are good at teaching yourself everything with no guidance you'll do fine, but don't expect much clarity from him. Sweet man, but he made the material and class harder/stressful than it should have been just because he can't he can't communicate with clarity what it is he wants us to know. Half of the class dropped so go figure...

He's such a sweet guy who is willing to help you as much as he can. He not like other instructors who try to hurry you out of cuz they need to go home or something. His tests are pretty much from his notes and the final questions are similar to his midterms so if you study all of your midterms and quizzes you'll be fine on his final.

CHEM25 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

Schaffert is a very good teacher. He explains things well and is far more than just a powerpoint monkey. I'd suggest doing many odd# questions on paper written the same as one would on a test. Follow his instructions very precisely. Chem 25 is an interesting course and seems carefully designed. Highly recommend both course and teacher.

He's a great professor teaching a difficult subject. Of course there will be a lot of work, so you can't be lazy. FOLLOW HIS INSTRUCTIONS to the letter! His lectures are engaging and you can tell he really enjoys what he does. Anyone who's made a committment to school should do well in his class. The negative reviews must just be sour grapes.

Professor Schaffert is a quirky, joyful teacher. He is excited about chemistry and is willing to answer any and all questions. He really wants his students to do well. If you do all of the recommended and assigned homework, follow the lecture notes, and utilitze the Mastering Chem power point slides, you can easily succeed in this class.

wow, this teacher can not teach, he may know the material but he does not let the students know that he knows. Do not take if there is another teacher available, you will struggle to learn if you depend on him and will have to do a lot of learning on your own.
