Dr. Troup is an inspiring guy. He has such a vast knowledge base and is just brilliant. His ideas that he'd present in class always had me thinking for a while after I'd already left the class. The slight difficulty is DEFINITELY worth it.

Dr Group did a great job teaching comm 201. He is knows his field and loves to get others interested in it. The books that we read were appropriate and thought provoking. I recommend taking Dr Troup.

I had Dr. Troup for Comm. in a technological age, and loved the class. He is big on class discussion, and the work was not hard. Extrememly time consuming, but not hard. He had the TAs do most of the grading, but he did all the teaching. Not as easy a grader on midterms and finals as he is for everything else, beware.

I had him for a communication technology class. He's a nice guy and the class wasn't too difficult. It was time consuming in terms of reading and journals but the information wasn't hard to understand. The class was kind of repetitious but I'd take him again.

The teacher was friendly and willing to help. The class was not as much work as everyone seems to say. There were journals due once a week, but they only had to be a page long and they didn't take that long to do. If you skim through the material you're able to do the work. He is an easy grader. The only bad thing was he kept us late.

Dr. Troup enjoys teaching and understands the material very well. This was one of my all time favorite classes. He thinks and challenges you to think.

The class is easy if you do the journals well every week. The mid term was easy because of the study guide that was given. At the end of the term, he will give you the choice to take the final or not, so do good throughout the semester so you dont have to take the final.

Wouldn't suggest taking this class if you have a really full schedule. Content matter was actually very interesting, but the readings and professor approached it in an overly biased way. More importantly, there's a journal due every week which is very long and Hand-Written. Most likely by far the most work you will be doing during your semester.

I'd advise against taking this class. Take it only if you have nothing else to do. You will be doing a lot of work not pertinent to human comm. You will be writing a lot(not typing) and reading a lot(of bad books). He lectures like an annoyingly excited child that rambles on forever. He gets excited about the class but you won't. Avoid if possible.

Wow this class was really a lot of work. His lectures are interesting, and he shows movie clips to relate to current day. Generally though the grading is unfair in the class, and the TA's do it all. There's extra credit at the end, which is really what saves people. Seems passionate about the subject, but wayyy too much work for a 300-level

He is an excellent teacher. There's lots of work to be done, journals and papers, but if you do well on that and his tests which are not hard if you study and go to class. He has powerpoint notes posted and tells you whats on the exam. I thoroughly enjoyed this guy and it was not too hard to get an A.

Welcome to college folks - if it was easy, you'd already know it all. For those who are in college to waste time or money, this class isn't for you. Troup does an excellent job at teaching the class on a number of levels. The information taught is relevant yet textured enough to get your hands in it. Certainly worth the cost of Duquesene credits.

The most pretentious, boring, long-winded professor I've ever met. Sorry, Dr. Troup, but you are not God's gift to college students! His class was a waste of my life.

Even though the class is a lot of work, he is such a nice guy and he tries his best to make the content interesting. I think he's a great professor; understanding, fun, and intelligent.

He doesn't understand that people have other classes and cannot devote their lives to the massive amounts of work this class requires. He is patronizing and tries to make us "think", when, i'm sorry, i am intelligent enough to make unbiased informed opinions. He has an untrustworthy grin and for a comm professor he is not clear with his objectives.

Calvin Troup is by far the best professor in the Communication Department. I took him for Presentation Skills and Persuasion for my graduate degree and loved both courses, but particularly Persuasion. He's intelligent, articulate, and an all-around nice guy.

Made some wierd crack about how the war in Iraq is necessary and I lost respect for him after that. Human Comm. is by far the most time consuming class at Duquesne. I spent more time on the work in this class than I did my entire sophomore year combined.
