Dr. Grinnell is my favorite philosophy professor at Buffalo State College, and I have had quite a few of them as teachers. I loved learning about the ancient Greeks, Vive la Socrates! He is just a one of a kind, genuinely likable, kind, understated, but very sharp and clever teacher and person.

Hes a real nice guy but his class was pointless. Id pay attention the entire time and come away with 2 lines of notes becaue his lectures never had anything to do with the reading. Pretty good amount of work and not easy. Not worth taking unless your a PHI major, I took it for Gen ed and regret it. finished with a C.

I took phi 102 . Grinell knows his stuff when it comes to this class but its soooo BORING ! Alot of readings for homework, and abstract asignments readings are online and in the book. if you do the homework you should be fine, and pass the final .. attendance is not mandatory

Values and Ethics in the Professions... I hate philosophy. Still do. But Grinnell made the class interesting enough for me to at least kind of like. Talked about Kant... A LOT. Readings were all online and varied from 5 pages to 20. Two papers total and then 100 word abstracts for each reading. Grinnell has a good personality and likes rugby! Woot!

I liked Professor Grinnell. Sure, the coursework was a tad daunting, but it's what I expected out of a college course. This course really exercises your critical thinking skills which is crucial to life, not just a diploma. Keep your mind open and get the abstracts done on time (they truly get easier as you do more) and you'll be fine!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Boring, dry readings and lectures; homework every night; 10+ page readings every night; not relevant at all to my major. I would NOT recommend this class to anyone at all unless their major is philosophy. If your major is anything else at all, avoid this class at all costs.

PHI300/BIO389 Biology, Values, and Society will never be offered again, so be sad that you missed it. More relevantly, Grinnell is a very good teacher, knows his stuff, very funny. Be prepared to do lots of reading and writing.

Probably my favorite class. Hes incredibly helpful and knows the material. Also, he makes it a point to use books that won't empty our pockets or bore us to tears. I'm planning on taking more classes with him and definately would recommend his classes.

Professor Grinnell makes the material very interesting and accessible. Explains things very well; uses great examples. He is highly intelligent -- he knows his stuff inside and out. He is laid back but will challenge you to think. Grades very fairly. I recommend taking any of his courses!

Great all around teaching style and the most professional most helpful instructor I have even encountered. If you want to take an Ethics class I suggest you take his. He makes no assumptions and pushes nothing on you but explains clearly so that you can make up your own mind. Strives to be fair on all accounts especially on examinations.
