This class was not nearly as interesting as I thought it would be. There is a lot of information to go through in this course and reading the book is essential for exams. The down side is the extra credit questions are complex and require one to pay a lot of attention to basically everything in the chapters of the book!

Dr. Lienard is very knowledgeable on the subject but you can tell that he gets frustrated teaching such a low level course. Sometimes lecture topics got confusing but test questions were generally taken from the book so attend class, read the chapters, and do the practice questions online and you will get an A.

This class was a conundrum, attendance is mandatory; however, unless you are lucky enough to get a seat in the front row you won't hear a word he says. All the slides end up online. It is very necessary to get the book and keep up on the reading. 2 assignments and 4 tests, really straight forward.

Dr. Lienard's classes are not easy. You will earn your grade in his class. That being said, you will come out of his class with critical thinking skills and knowledge that can be applied to all the other classes you will take. ANTH436 taught by Dr. Lienard was by far the most insightful and beneficial course I have taken in the department.

His classes are not easy, but you will actually learn from Pierre- not just learn how to answer tests correctly to get A's, but learn how to develop your thinking skills and form arguments.

I truly enjoyed Dr. Lienard's class. His passion for the subject matter and the stories of his on-the-ground field experiences greatly enhanced the material, and made me excited to do fieldwork. Since when did "easiness" become a criteria for rating professors?

I found that while Dr. Lienard does go off on tangents, they are always on subject and usually related to his fieldwork which provided important real-life information for me as a future anthropologist. I'm glad I had such a great introduction to Cultural Anthropology.

Dr. Lienard is knowledgable and expects you to work hard (you know, because youre in college). These people are a bunch of whiny babies. Suck it up. Study and you will do well in any of Pierre's classes.

Despite the almost incomprehensible accent, he goes off tangents and rambles. He uses some profanity during lecture, but that didn't really bother me. I feel like the class could have actually encompassed the history of the field of anthropology, like the course title suggested, but alas it wasn't like that at all. I tell my friends to avoid him.

Dr. Lienard is genuinely well intentioned and wants students to learn and benefit from his courses.Yes, there is a lot of reading. Yes, you have to do it to do well on the tests. But, trust me, the subject material is very exciting and very fun, and thus easy to read. This professor is very knowledgeable and more than willing to help. take him :)
