"Papers? More like novels" "Tough Grader" "Get ready to read"

Take this class only if you want to RUIN your GPA. I took this course in my last semester. Up until then I had a STRAIGHT A GPA. This prof. only assigns essays based on the reading. Doesn't tell you what subject to write about, then weeks later you just get a letter grade. If you ask for feedback you simply get a copy of the original instructions.

ANTH 460 Taken for Credit:Yes Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: B+

The class consisted of video lectures and only two exams, midterm (40% of grade) and final (60% of grade). Material was pretty straightforward. Professor Lienard replied to my emails quickly and was very helpful at explaining unclear concepts. Overall, I enjoyed taking this course.

ANTH 101 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: N/A

I took Professor Lienard's ANTH 101 summer class and I had the worst experience. We had to read four 30-40 page readings a week and we had a test with 50 questions and 3 essays every week as well. I went to every class and his notes didn't help. He is hard to understand and the test questions were not straightforward. Would not recommend to anyone.

ANTH735 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: A

I learned more in this class than any other I have taken. Dr. Lienard is an excellent professor and really cares about his students. He is incredibly knowledgeable in his field and will take the time to explain concepts in detail. He is always available to lend a hand. I would recommend him as a professor to anyone who is passionate about behavior.

Anth 436 Taken for Credit:Yes Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

This is the only Anthropology course I have ever disliked. It may have been better in person, but it was horrible. The reading was hard to understand, then the video lectures were pretty much impossible to understand due to the heavy accent and bad audio quality. There are 4 papers, a midterm, and a final. The midterm and final are essay only.

Anth 101 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

This class was not nearly as interesting as I thought it would be. There is a lot of information to go through in this course and reading the book is essential for exams. The down side is the extra credit questions are complex and require one to pay a lot of attention to basically everything in the chapters of the book!

Dr. Lienard is very knowledgeable on the subject but you can tell that he gets frustrated teaching such a low level course. Sometimes lecture topics got confusing but test questions were generally taken from the book so attend class, read the chapters, and do the practice questions online and you will get an A.

This class was a conundrum, attendance is mandatory; however, unless you are lucky enough to get a seat in the front row you won't hear a word he says. All the slides end up online. It is very necessary to get the book and keep up on the reading. 2 assignments and 4 tests, really straight forward.

Dr. Lienard's classes are not easy. You will earn your grade in his class. That being said, you will come out of his class with critical thinking skills and knowledge that can be applied to all the other classes you will take. ANTH436 taught by Dr. Lienard was by far the most insightful and beneficial course I have taken in the department.

His classes are not easy, but you will actually learn from Pierre- not just learn how to answer tests correctly to get A's, but learn how to develop your thinking skills and form arguments.
