He was very funny at times and likes to give hints to what is on the exams. He is nice and very personable but not a great teacher. I would say he was the best out of the three professors that rotated though. Overall he is good.

CHEM101 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

Pienta is one of three professors in my Chem lecture that trade off once a week. Pienta is by far the best of the three. He reads through slides and explains them to a certain degree. It's not necassary that you attend lecture, but he works through problems well that aren't in the slides.

CHEM122 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

Pienta seems to teach in a daze, rattling things off of his power point slides, all of which are uninformative and useless. He told us that the exam questions would be like the homework questions, but they are nothing like the homework and the exams are befuddling at best.

Norby has a hard time getting through more than 3 slides per lecture. He just can't do it. I don't find lecture particularly helpful, except for when he gives secret answers that are a question on the exam and the people who weren't there get it wrong.

He subbed for my Orgo I professor a few times and when he did I actually understood what was going on. I wish he had been my Orgo I professor!

I really liked Dr. Pienta. His tests were fair, although some were pretty difficult. The one test that almost everyone really bombed, he right away posted on ICON that there was no need to freak out and that the class average was pretty low. Overall a great professor, he really cares that his students learn the material.

pienta is a great professor. the class is difficult because of all the mechanisms and reactions you need to memorize. but after looking at the previous exams, i would say the exams get easier each semester

CHEM122 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

One of the best undergrad instructors I've had. Clear, patient, funny, lots of office hours. Material & tests are difficult, but he explains this difficult subject as good as anyone could. Highly recommend.
