Good class for learning how to write and understand poetry. Other than that he's probably one of the harshest graders I've ever had. The guys needs to calm down and understand writing is not that easy. Unless you want to work your butt off for a lower grade then avoid this class.

He is very fun and friendly. Some of his assignments were tough and took some thought, but that isn't a bad thing. He has a passion for poetry and puns, is somewhat quirky, and all around a fun teacher. I highly recommend him if you are willing to put just a little extra effort into assignments and extra thought into discussions.

Mr. Tomanek is a very nice guy. I enjoyed every aspect of his class except for writing papers. It's very hard to understand what was expected each essay. I have never been graded so badly on writing essays in my entire life. My major has nothing to do with English, but yet I was forced to write papers at a level expected from English majors.

Very friendly, funny professor. Some of the things he wants include more abstract, deeper thinking (primarily in essays). We do a lot of group work in class, and he gives many quizzes on short stories (but if you take notes on your readings, you get to use them for quiz's). Grades a little harder, yet I'd still recommend him.

To those who said he can't teach etc. Have you ever taught? You don't know anything. He's walking on water. That's how easy he makes it look.

He was not good at teaching, all papers and books read were all bout "natural food". He was obsessed with food, he even brought in his garbage one day and it was all natural crap. Decided to change majors after his class from english.

He is a fairly easy professor. He does tend to grade papers rough but give you a chance to revise one to possibly get a letter grade better. Make sure you attend. VERY willing to help students with editing and revising papers before they are actually due. Highly recommended!
