Russell is one of my favorite professors at Vanderbilt! I've had 3 classes with her. If you're interested in law school, take her class. Attendance is mandatory, participation is important, and there's a lot of reading. If you're willing to do all the reading you're fine. Her grading isn't bad; she's clear on what she wants.

Absolutely love her. She's harsh sometimes but she's a clear lecturer and she knows what she's doing. Make sure you do the reading-- it's essential. I'm looking forward to taking more classes with her!!!

Main problem with class: it is essentially you reading the textbook; every class period is simply a recollection of the reading for that day, with no critical analysis. I got nothing from the actual class itself. She also often deflects questions she doesn't know the answer to by saying, "Well, what do you guys think?" Really nice lady, though.

Professor Russell is one of Vanderbilt's best. If you're interested in law - take her class. The class is a great way to see if you're actually interested in law school. Her grading is fair, and she's very clear about what she wants. The reading is required, so if you don't want to do it, don't take the class. If you do the work, you'll do well.

Great class! If you have any interest in Law School this is a Must take class! One of my favorite classes.

Frustrating class. She runs class by Socratic method which means reading is essential. However, it also means class is just a resuscitation of the reading with no additional knowledge provided. Also you have to read all 672 pages of the Constitutional Law textbook which is exactly as fun as it sounds. More work than its worth, take another class.

Professor Russell is awesome! She is very clear and straightforward, and super nice and helpful. She also has guest judges and lawyers which is cool. However, the class is pretty reading intensive. Do the homework and show up and you'll be fine.

Professor Russell is one of the nicest professors I've had. She was very understanding and approachable. You shouldn't skip the readings because she may pick on you, and since participation is so heavily weighted, you probably don't want to get caught off guard. If you follow the directions, you will do well.

Really sweet lady, and genuinely nice. Class was VERY reading intensive, though, which required a lot of time outside of class. Also offers lots of in-class guests who come in that are lawyers/judges in Nashville - pretty cool. Class wasn't too difficult, although certainly not a complete blowoff. She's beautiful, too.

She's a good professor, and the material is presented in an EXTREMELY interesting manner. However, I dislike her grading scale, which makes it virtually impossible to make an A even after much work. She is very nice however, and is willing to look over your papers when you have questions.

She is a smart prof who still manages to be approachable and non-intimidating. Class expectations are reasonable and straightforward. Don't skip or half-a** the assignments, and you?ll do well. She is the clearest lecturer of the 7 PSCI profs I?ve taken. Some readings can be difficult (even if they?re 5 pages) but are explained well in class.

If you pay attention and read the lecture notes you'll do fine. The midterm/final were VERY straightforward.. almost all of the multi choice questions were on previous quizzes. If you've taken a US history course you won't learn that much.. but its okay for a basic polisci class.

The class is pretty straightforward. Attendance is mandatory because she gives pop quizzes. If you scan the readings and pay attention in class, you'll do fine. However, if you're absent (even if you have an excuse), she won't help you. Lowest quiz grade dropped, fairly easy midterm. Good instructor, extra credit available if you work for it.
