He is great-- not easy, but he guides students well and captures one's attention right away. He is clear and helpful, he is one of the best professors I have ever had! I learned so much with him and he pushed me to be better. I would take a class with him again if I could!

Great professor! Very organized and a great class manager. Excellent at teaching writing. There's lots of work and he has high expectations, but he is extremely helpful. Makes class fun.

This was a summer course I took with Schmidt. It was intensive but SO worth it. What an amazing professor. I learned so much about myself and my writing through the class readings and writing assignments. Class was also very fun and lively. If you do all your work on time, you WILL get an A!

He is not an easy professor, but definitely one who knows his material and will really make you learn something. You will be required to read and write a lot but i would recommend this class. he's a great professor, just do ALL your work on time and you will do great. he's always willing to meet and suggest things to improve your work. great class!

He grades any reasonable creative writing piece with an A. So he's a pretty easy grader. If you participate and do your work you will get a lot out of it

Professor Schmidt is one of the best professors at Lehman College. His syllabus was detailed and inclusive of many aspects of the Harlem Renaissance. I would recommend that everyone interested in that time period or African American studies should take this course with Professor Schmidt.
