Dr. Rice was an ok teacher. If you take this class, it won't be impossible but it certainly won't be an easy A or an interesting course. I wouldn't avoid this class like the plague if it worked with my schedule, but I also wouldn't rush to take Dr. Rice's class if I could avoid it.

PHIL 1000 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

Definitely was not looking forward to a Philosophy class initially, but Rice's enthusiasm is pretty contagious. If you want an A, expect to work for it. tedious homework-readings and homework questions to follow. Two papers-required outlines are a pain but helpful in the long run to organize thoughts.tests are fair, participate as much as possible

PHIL1100 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Dr. Rice is an extremely energetic professor who cares deeply about his subject. He assigns a great deal of homework, which involves essays for every class based on the assigned reading. He is a very tough grader when it comes to the 3 required papers. He teaches his class precisely and clearly. All questions are answered with enthusiasm.

PHIL1000 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Prof. Rice is a genuinely nice man who is very willing to help his students. He is a VERY tough grader on both tests & papers. The class is manageable, but definitely not an easy A. I probably would not take him again solely for the sake of my GPA, but he's a nice guy and cares for his students.Graded on 3 papers, tests, final exam, &participation

Phil1000 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Great guy. Gives notes and provides an outline which makes up the tests-very helpful. ALOT of information which all has to be memorized and at least 3 hours of homework a night. His class requires ATON of effort but he keeps it interesting. He's a tough grader but willing to help during office hours. If your looking for an easy A, don't take him.

PHILO1000 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

One of my favorite professors. Extremely helpful and clear. Always available for office hours and wants to help students as much as he can. Five short papers (1 page) a midterm, final and a term paper (7-8 pgs). Helps so much with the term paper--even will give you 2/3 sources for it. TAKE HIM!

Good guy, crystal clear, very helpful. But very tough. He doesnt give you an inch and you HAVE to do all the work. I did every homework and tried very very hard and I just got a B. So if you aren't planning on giving philosophy too much effort and wanna get a good grade go somewhere else.

PHIL101 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

Nice guy. He is very clear about what he wants. It is not difficult to do well in his class, though from my experience it is hard to get a solid A on all assignments. A- and B+ are certainly attainable. Very straightforward and direct -- he tells you exactly what you need to know for his tests. Does not push personal ideas/beliefs onto students.

Really nice guy, although class can be a bit boring, he's extremely straight forward and a pretty easy grader. Very helpful with papers as long as you talk to him about it. Minimal homework.
