PHIL 2307 Taken for Credit:Yes Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: C

Very difficult. Treats his class as if it is the only one the entire semester. Too much work required. Too many forum postings required. Long papers and essays.

HCC is lucky to have Nathan Smith. He possesses all the qualities one would expect out of a professor in a prestigious university. Well, except for pretension and condescension. Logic requires effort. So don't expect an easy A. But Dr. Smith will go out of his way to help you. I've never seen this degree of effort from any other teacher at HCC.

PHIL 2307 Taken for Credit:Yes Attendance: Mandatory Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

Teacher recommended by friend who had his lecture course. The assignments are not difficult, had to buy two books for this course other readings were provided. Final will consist of 6-7 pg paper and multiple choice exam. 2-3 papers over course and multiple forum posts that correspond to reading assignments and 1 group project. Good Teacher.

PHIL 1301 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

Makes sure you understand the concepts and ideas of philosophy. didn't need a txt book, all req. reading was provided through class web site as well as links to additional study aids and profs own notes. Not an easy class to enjoy and he did a great job of engaging the class. HIGHLY recommend

PHIL 2307 Taken for Credit:Yes Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Barely cracked it open Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

This instructor actually seems to care about teaching, but I would not recommend his online classes. There are WAY too many required discussion forum posts. Extensive discussions like the ones here are way more helpful if done in-person. There's a ton of required reading in this class, and I would've preferred not reading pages of forums too.

PHIL1301 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Professor Smith did a good job teaching the intro to phil class. He teaches in a way that is understandable and breaks down the different philosopher's views to help the student understand.

PHIL2316 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

The BEST Philosophy professor that HCC has. Dr. Smith is knowledgeable and so easy. Take good notes, and write down whatever on the notes onto your paper, you'll easily get 100. He makes things so simple by real-life examples and down to the level that can't be easier so that you can understand. Take him and you won't regret :) Good luck!

It's definatly an interesting topic. I made a c- in the class but that was a self fault. Everything I turned in made a B or higher. If you have problems understanding the books, I highly suggest reading sparknotes.com. the only thing i regret is not going to this class more often.
