Not a bad class to take. Powerpoint formats with clicker questions to make sure you pay attention. Tests can be not so bad or pretty bad. She makes them tricky with true/false style. She is pretty funny, very sarcastic. Not a bad class to take.

JOUR201 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

Her class really intimidated me at first, but I ended up with a solid "A". Lectures are pretty much mandatory since she uses the iClicker to take attendance and for quizzes. They are pretty pointless though since the PowerPoints are put on blackboard, and she basically reads them in class. Study the book and PP's for the exams, and you'll be fine.

Dr. G is a great professor. She seems tough at the beginning of the year but she's very fair and approachable. She doesn't take BS but if you have legit questions, she's happy to help. Few minor assignments, exams are generally pretty straightforward. I didn't read much of the book or go to the SI's and my lowest exam was 45/50.

This class was awesome. All you have to do is go to class and get the clicker points. The tests are hard but if you attend the SI sessions you will be fine. She also will totally help you out if you go to her. I recommend her.

I am not the type of person to be critical of a professor but she's basically useless. She reads only from the powerpoint and has had numerous technical errors throughout the semester and cannot teach without a computer. Very disappointed with the class. Wish I would had taken someone else.

Come to every class, she takes attendance with the iClickers and it's just easy points. She really has no idea what she's talking about but the SI sessions were helpful and you really have to read the book (although it's a lot of reading). Really need to study hard for the tests. She's just eh.

Make sure you bring your clicker to every class, she takes attendance using clicker questions. Her tests take a lot of studying for. Study powerpoints and MUST read chapter in the book. 4 exams and optional end exam. Overall she's ok but has kind of an attitude when teaching like a know-it-all. Cancels class a lot which is a plus! Decent teacher.

I was nervous about taking this class after I looked on this website and saw her ratings, but honestly, this class is not bad. I thought she was a great teacher and I ended up learning a lot. She is challenging, but not overbearing. She is willing to help you and wants you to succeed.

I think a lot of people do not understand the way she grades, so they think it is hard. You can fail the test pretty much and still come out with a B. Grading for the entire year is out of 300 points, but she gives you a possible 375 or around there. Once you get to 276 points, it is an A, no matter your work after that. She is so willing to help.

She doesn't know how to teach from a powerpoint, but it wasn't that bad. Her tests are easy if you do the reading and pay attention. She offers opportunities for extra credit, and she is definitely entertaining. Only take this class if there aren't any other options.

tests had nothing to do with the notes. You really have to read all the chapters in the book and she asks such specific questions on the tests and quizzes that are useless and you wont remember reading. i would recommend to NEVER take this professor.

This class demands your time and attention. Prof. Alvarado does whatever she can to help her students understand the extensive semester media analysis project. She has real world experience and always makes class entertaining. Semester long group project, she expects a lot from her students but you come out of the class really knowing the material.

She expects a lot of out you but it is worth it. I would not say it is an easy class but she helps you out anyways possible. The test are basically old homework problems and power point slides. She let's you use a card as a "cheat sheet".
