I dont know how you can really rate an online course teacher, but he set up the class so its interesting and informational. The exams are pretty straight forward, but are alot of material. it isnt an easy A (yet possible), but and easy B.

This guy is a genius teacher...makes astronomy interesting. no clue what anyone is talking about with confusing questions. I found that he teachers only the basics, the stuff u need to know. no need to memorize random stuff. obviously more people like to come on here to complain than praise, because i know lots of people like him.

Best guy ever! Took his online astro class and it is laid out so that it is so extremely interesting and fun- so much so that I barely had to study for exams! Contrary to what others have said, for astro 001, i thought the exams were really easy...even got an 100% on one. Take the web course.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. It is NOT an easy gen-ed. Palma loves what he teaches and he is a good guy but the tests are impossible.

Although I can tell he really enjoys what he teaches, I think the content was too in-depth for an introductory class. The information was incredibly interesting, but I think there was too much of it, making the exams incredibly difficult.

As a professor and a person he is a great guy but i have come to realize that no matter how much effort i put into studying i still get C's on every exam. His exams are very hard and the questions are, in my opinion, ridiculous and confusing. I wouldn't suggest this is a gen ed

DO NOT EVER TAKE THIS GUY. He simply will make your life a living hell. No matter how much effort you put into this class, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. I studied way too much, went to every study group that the TAs offered, and still, he brought his twisted questions to the exam. This is the biggest mistake I have ever done; Astronomy with Dr. Palma.

Nice guy. EXTREMELY HARD for a gen-ed. His homeworks and exams are ridiculously hard. It's the farthest thing from an "easy A" DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE NO BACKGROUND IN ASTRO

Nice guy, interesting class (most of the time). First section you discuss is miserably hard, but it gets better after that. He has alot of cushion points to help your grade, but exams are pretty difficult. I only managed to scratch out an A minus in the class because I studied my butt off for the final. Would definitely recommend though.

Dr Palma has a lot of enthusiasm for teaching this course. He truly seems to love astronomy and takes a lot of pride in his teaching. I took this as an elective to fill a science requirement, but it ended up being an interesting course. The exams can be tricky and challenging.

Great class, great professor. easy A or B if you put in some effort to stay on top of the assignments. He even offers extra credit and having your lowest midterm grade dropped. Tests are NOT cumulative.

Great elective, great class, great teacher. Attendance is mandatory, but will excuse you if you are sick. Three midterms and your lowest is dropped (who else offers this kind of flexibility?). The final is straight off the midterms. If you don't get at least a B in this class for a non-science major, you won't have an easier opportunity.

I thought this class was great, but I know that people in the class had trouble with it. It's pretty easy, but you do have to go to class and study. His office hours are helpful, too. Don't buy the book unless you want to study from it, but his notes online are really all you need.

Extremely hard class for a gen ed. Even though the tests are curved, it's still almost impossible to get an A. Don't take this class unless you really like astronomy and are willing to put a lot of time into studying.

GREAT class. so fun and interesting, and Dr. Palma really enjoys teaching, and loves the subject. i learned so much about astro. some of the concepts were difficult at first, but if you go to his office, he will help you until you understand! will be more difficult if you haven't had chem 110 , but if you've taken chem 110 should have no problem!

Easy class. Three midterms: lowest grade dropped. Everything is curved. Must go to class for clicker questions. Great teacher.

This class is NOT an easy class. Don't take it if you don't have to. His exams are EXTREMELY difficult and are not parallel to the notes. DO NOT TAKE ASTRO 001 WITH PALMA!!!
