A good professor. The material is extremely boring. It's all memorization. Doesn't require much work at all to get a good grade, but at the same time the material is very very very dull and certain parts may are even depressing.

Liked this class. Go to lecture and take good notes. Day before tests review online lectures- will help a lot on pesky questions. Papers had good topics and were easy to write and easily graded. 1st paper is 4 pages while last 2 are 5-6 pages. Extra credit assignment can be worth 12%. Like him he is passionate about the topic. Lectures are clear.

SAS 11 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: Barely cracked it open Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

I would recommend taking this class if you are interested in geography or environmental sciences because there is a lot of overlap. He is very helpful answering questions and in office hours as well. 3 research papers throughout the quarter are a little time consuming, but midterms/final are very straightforward and if you review you will be fine.

Great class that covers a lot of material and goes into depth on various environmental topics. Very knowledgeable professor who gives clear, interesting lectures. Go to lecture and spend time studying review questions and you'll get a good grade

Too much work for a 3 unit class. You will constantly be doing something for this class, whether its studying for quizzes and midterms, filling out maps, or writing essays. His midterms, quizzes, and finals are taken straight off the powerpoints but the material is EXTREMELY boring. Fairly easy grading seeing that an A- is 87 and A is 90.

This class is a lot more work than you would expect from a 3 unit class. You have 3 research papers that aren't very easy, then you have 2 midterms, quizzes, homework, and final. A lot of memorization is needed but it is exactly off the powerpoints that he posts. Very nice professor who cares about the material. But honestly it's just boring.

There are much more easier classes than this one. I think it's too much work for 3 unit class.

He's not the best teacher. His lectures are slightly off topic and he talks much more about subject matter he likes versus what will actually be on the test. BUT if there is one thing about this class that made it worth it, it's how easy it was. Tests are exact replicas of review questions, TA is amazing, papers are easy to ace. TAKE HIM for easy A

Prof. Richards is super nice and really passionate about the subject bit his lectures often go too deep into the subject. The class is frustrating in that the tests don't line up will with the lectures but his study guides are great. Lectures are really dry too.

Very good class. Prof. Richards is really passionate about the subject, and he wants his students to feel the same way. Sometimes the lectures move too quickly, but if you stop to ask questions when you're confused, Professor Richards will clearly, explain - he is glad to take questions. Textbook readings not necessary, but helpful.
