"There for you" "Tests? Not many" "Would take again"

Cai gets it all across to you clearly and concisely. Occasionally he goes on rants about Russell Crow and the historical bibliographies of mathematicians but gets all of the material properly taught. I attribute a lot of my success in higher math courses to this professor's ability to instruct.

Calc 140 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: A

Professor Cai is hands down THE BEST MATH PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. He really wants you to understand the material and is very reasonable with grading the tests. This is a teacher that WANTS you to succeed not fail you. I STRONGLY encourage people to take Cai for a Calc 1 professor

If you can't take Calc I with Cai, don't take Calc 1 here. He does a great job of walking you through the topics and making sure you're not just memorizing steps, but actually understanding the reasons behind the procedures. He's a very fair grader - he won't hand you points for free, but he will curve exam scores if warranted.

Calculus II is a touch subject if you are not interested in Math. Cai is an amazing guy and makes the class tolerable. If you go to him for help he is extremely easy to talk to and will help you out. He does not want to see his students do poorly. I had him for Calc I and Calc II and although he's not the easiest he is one of my favorite professors

His class was honestly what made me like Math. I always had horrible teachers in high school and middle school but the way that he taught just made sense. He is obviously extremely knowledgeable and has a very clear way of describing the problems. He is also fair when it comes to grading exams, which is pretty much the best thing you can ask for!!!

Although he has an accent, his lectures are understandable if you pay attention. To receive an A from his class, all you have to do is do the practice problems A LOT from the textbook. It really helps you on the exams and some of the problems are from the textbook.

Cai is a great professor. He is clearly super smart, as well as funny and willing to help his students. He is one of the best professors I've had at UMB. Those who say he's "hard to understand" need to get a grip! His english is flawless and he has an expansive vocabulary. Go to class, take good notes, do the homework and you'll do well.

I had to drop his class. He is difficult to understand. I had a really good foundation in math, but had to drop his class because I learned nothing from him and didn't have the time outside of class to teach myself everything. Also, never responded to my email.

CALC II Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Although he has an accent, he is very easily concise, consistent, and clearly knows the material, explaining everything into decent to great detail. He is a fair grader if you talk to him and he is very approachable, only if you do approach him. One of the best Math professors I've had at UMB.

Shuang Cai is literally the worst teacher on the planet. Its really hard to understand him and he just teaches like a machine and there is NO interaction within the class. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to learn with him as you teacher.

He explains the material clearly, but due to the amount of material covered he will go at a faster pace than people are used to. Prof Cai is really funny and a great guy. He grades based on how much calculus you understand and gives generous amounts of partial credit. No attendance taken because it is a tough class, but I enjoyed it.

Took Calc 2 over the summer with him. Pacing was crazy fast but he had to cram a lot of material in a short time span. Knowledgeable, always willing to answer questions and had a great sense of humor, especially for a math prof. Forgiving grader as well. 85 is an A and he curves if test scores are low

He is a good professor if you want to learn higher level calculus. There is a significant amount of homework that counts towards the grade. His tests are easier than exams and he is a generous grader. Those who are having difficulty should take advantage of his office hour.

The Calc 2 summer course was very hard and intense. He explains well, if you take time and effort of studying then you will survive his class. Ended up with a B+ because I didn't do well in his final. Overall, I did really good in his other exams.

Too EASY! You can study by yourself and still get an A, I recommend him for calc 1 and 2 any day! MATH MAJOR from my experience and when you get an 85 on any exam its considered as a nice solid A and I gotten 3 100s in all 3 of his exams and did all his homework and i could of just ended up with a nice Solid B without taking his final exam.

He was an easy class as long as you knew what you were doing. I never studied, but of course I took AP Calc right before his class. Even without paying attention, I still was able to pass. A great teacher overall if you can keep up with his fast pace
