PSYC 209 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: B

Straight lecture. No white board or powerpoints. He gets off base all the time with personal stories. We wouldn't progress much from the last class. He gave us study guides that summed up the text. He's sort of a pushover when it came to tests, but my class was pretty aggressive. Also, there's an APA-style paper due at the end of the semester.

psych 213 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Mandatory Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

Dr. Selgas is not a good teacher at all. He talks all class about various things and rarely relates it back to what we're supposed to be studying. He doesn't tell you whats on the tests and his tests are NOT easy. It is crucial to read the book. I do not recommend.

Professor Selgas was not among the list of my favorite professors. He simply talks the entire class about patients he's worked with. It is very important to read the book. He never discusses what's actually on the test. His tests are VERY difficult multiple choice tests, but he does grade on a decent curve. Be prepared to teach yourself!

PSYC 101 - 039 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Mandatory Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: WD

He talks and talks but NOTHING he says is on the tests. He may be a very smart man but he is a terrible teacher! We had a paper and he never explained it until the last 2 weeks of class and it made no sense what he wanted. PLEASE DO NOT take this class if you aren't good at teaching yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr S is indeed a brilliant teacher, but if you learn best by power point and hand-holding, he is not for you. I found his course difficult and yet rewarding. He integrates relevant cases with other professionals' physiological and psychological material. It was challenging, but well worth only getting a B in his class.

I would not recommend him. He doesn't give you help to knowing what will be on his tests. He talks the entire class. I feel like I could pass the class without coming but he will drop you if you don't show. If you email him he does not get back to you. I regret taking him!

Definitely a great professor. Dr. Selgas is helpful and insightful. He is always willing to chat and takes a personal interest in many of his students (not in a weird way).

The class is more like a grad level class. The lecture is a lot of case studies, not simply reading out of the book. The tests are primarily based on book knowledge, so you do need to read it. Extra credit comes from lectures. I enjoyed it, although if you're not used to case study type classes, you might find it difficult.

Great person overall. Only lectures but make the content understandable for even the slowest of students. I really enjoyed his class and would take any others take by Dr. Selgas. He is available for any help he can offer his students and is always happy to 'chat' with interested students.
