ENGL 100
Silver is difficult to understand and is surely a tough grader, but I admit that she is truly an angel in disguise. She is intelligent and desires us to think in our highest potential--meaning we must absolutely understand the material and how they connect to one another. This is a comprehensive class, but if you're lucky she'll cancel the final.
ENG102
She is sometimes hard to follow but she is really cool. She is obviously highly intelligent. She always works with students and sends out very helpful emails with extra reading/info. I have taken her twice. Once she made the midterm essay the only test in the class, and if you werent happy with the grade you got to revise it.
Eng100
Read the actual readings before class, and you will get so much more out of the lectures. She can be confusing during lecture(starting a new thought before ending the first) but she makes up for it by being available to students in office hours as much as humanly possible. She understands theory is difficult, so ask questions and don't be shy
Eng102A
She can seem confusing at times, so I recommend going to office hours. The paper prompt was confusing, but I came out with an exact idea of what she wanted in it and she emails TONS of handouts that will help you write your paper. However, sometimes she sends out emails late at night, so you might not see them before class the next day.
ENG102B
Silver is so brilliant! She has such spirit and comes to class always excited to teach. It's sometimes easy to get lost in her stream of consciousness, so pay attention! She's very helpful, always willing to give you her time, and just so nice.
ENG410
Professor Silver was one of the best English professors I ever had -- Including BA and Master's studies. I took two classes with her. She's brilliant, kind, and has a generous spirit that comes out of her intelligence and compassion for the material and her students. Take her class and be prepared to use your mind. (What a concept)
ENG101
This professor is amazing: intelligent, informative and inspiring. Just listen and learn and you will be so much wiser by quarter's end.
ENG106
I had Professor Silver for E106 (Hamlet & Revenge Tragedy) and it was one of the best and most valuable classes I've ever taken at UCI. I wish I was a second or third-year student so that I could take her again. She's not the easiest teacher, but you'll probably learn the most from her.
ENGL102A
This professor is TOUGH--the hardest at UCI. She is a hyper-critical grader and has very intense lectures. You will be marking notes the ENTIRE time and still won't get everything. She is also scatterbrained: she lost my mid-term *AND* gave me an incorrect grade in her book. Nevertheless, I actually enjoyed her; she's the smartest prof I've known.
eng102A
She uses some very big words to the point where it feels like you're stupid; or thats how I felt about her class. I guess she's charming and witty but unless you have a pocket dictionary, I'd find another professor. Attendance: you must go every day. Tests: 2 mid-term take home essays(prompt is hard to understand) 1 final take home essay. good luck
Engli102C
The material was excellent but don't take her class on Shakespeare without taking a couple of classes on Classics. You'll be expected to know Artistotle's Recognition and Reversal techniques to work out its structure. If only I would have known this! It was one of my first classes at UCI. Tough! She'll expect you to memorize Greek terms too.

Very tough and deep, but worth the time and effort. Took her for two classes and they were by far my best at UCI.
e102
she's a whiz! she knows her**** well. there's a lot of boring reading, but once you go to class and hear her lecture about it, the reading is really interesting and you get really engaged in something you thought you didnt give a**** about. bravo--definitely recommend her classes. silvers a genius.
ENG 102A
I agree with the majority: Prof Silver moves pretty fast through the material and she's a brilliant teacher. Her office hours are pretty useful, and she is generally helpful towards students. But her class can be pretty hard, if you don't keep up with the readings. So work hard, and you'll do well in Prof Silver's class!

She rocks -- she's brilliant and she teaches well. It's really the intellectually lazy students who can't hang with her and don't get anything out of their classes. For the life of me, I can't see why these chumps stuck around for more than two weeks in her class anyway. It's clear from the start that her classes are rewarding and challenging.

Silver is the BEST!!!! She is brilliant and challenging, but at the same time nurturing and warm, so she will help you if you are having difficulties (be they class-related or not) :)
Hum Honors
The pheelo-soph-ick-awl stuff that she plowed out the whole time was pretty much beyond my meager brain. I understood bits and pieces, and then it was back to the doodling board. BUT she's an incredibly NICE and SMART woman who seeks to be teacher first. Grades are not important to her - which is good for you! So just relax, listen, and learn.
