Not a good professor at all.He is not helpful. All he does is pull out a power point and read it word from word. For your benefit please do not take him.

Prof. Herst is knowledgeable and helpful. If you come to class, take notes, and read the assigned material you will do well. His exams are very fair. I would recommend.
PY102
Make sure you take good notes from his lecture, which most of the exam questions come from. You can NOT only depend on the text book. Also, try not to fall asleep during the lecture as the class might be boring.

Fantastic teacher. I never thought I would enjoy listening to a lecture so much. He has a great style of presenting information. It helps to have read the chapter before class (as you should in any class), but is well worth it to really enjoy the lecture. I plan on taking more if his classes!
PY102
Sometimes he talks kinda fast but don't be afraid to ask him to slow down. He really seems to enjoy when students engage themselves and has no problem answering questions if something isn't clear. Read ahead of time so you can ask questions during lecture if you don't understand something and take good notes and you'll be fine.

He is probably the worst prof. I have ever had at the MC. When class starts, he tells everyone upfront that he would never post the powerpoints whatsoever. So, if you don't take notes from the powerpoints, even if you cram the whole text book, you will fail the class. The lecture he gives in class is SO boring. Not a recommended prof. at all.

In PY 203 Herst makes absolutely no attempt to engage students nor does he show any interest in the subject matter whatsoever. He never deviates from his pwrpnt which is copied word for word from the textbook. The class is dull and Herst frequently glosses over topics by using the excuse that students should be familiar with it from Psych 100.

He knew and is very passionate about what he teaches. He goes through PPTs really fast, so I recommend bringing a laptop to class to type down the notes. If he talks for awhile, of course it gets boring, but he does allow class participation which sets off a lot of interesting debates. Just pay attention and take notes and you'll be fine.
PSYCH102
I loved that he would let the students ask questions all the time. The class was fun and I learned a lot of cool things.
PY102
IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ALWAYS ASK. HE DOES NOT GIVE HOMEWORK WHICH IS GOOD. HE DOEN'T GIVE CLASS WORK WHICH MEAN YOU NEED TO STUDY OTHERWISE YOU WILL FAIL. AND PLEASE STUDY AHEAD OF TIME DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE WEEKEND BEFORE EXAM DAY BECAUSE YOU WILL FAIL!

Very nice professor. Dresses well. He grades on a curve AND gives extra credit. If you don't get an A, it is SIMPLY because you didn't read the chapters and attend lecture. If you do that and barely look at your notes before a test, then it will be easy.
PY102
Prof. Herst, knows his stuff, and he's great at explaining what he knows. Note taking IS mandatory! Exceptional notes will help you breeze through this course like its nothing. If you want an "A" show up for class, review in the book, and take notes.

He is one of the most awesome professors this campus has. He is very logical and reasonable, attributes which seem to be lacking at this college. If you want to learn what is important in psych then take him. The tests are not hard, pertain directly to the lecture, and he curves the grades. The paper that he assigned was sort of a pain though.
PSY102
Really fast lecture but he will slow down if needed. Easy class attendance is not mandatory. Really knowledgeable teacher, notes are easy to understand. He is also easy on the eyes so that helped a lot!
PSY101
HES A GOOD TEACHER! THERES ONLY LIKE 4 TEST OF 25 QUESTIONS AND I FAILED MOST OF THEM BUT STILL GOT A "B" IN THE CLASS. HE CURVES GRADES WHICH IS AWESOME :)
PY102
He tends to go through the slides kind of quick, but don't be afraid to ask him to slow down. Ask questions, if you don't he assumes you get it and will move on. Take notes during lecture. The book will help you understand some things a bit better, and help remember things for the test. He is willing to help you if you ask him.
PY102
Good prof. Class is not hard if you TAKE NOTES. You can skim or ignore most of the textbook (ask him and he'll tell you if a section is important to read or not), but make sure you get down anything he mentions in lecture. He's as engaged as you are, so if you ask questions, you'll get more out of it.
Psych102
If you listen, he is very informative. Take notes (quickly) from the power point. he likes case studies, Erikson, Piaget (big time). Show interest by asking questions, you will get more information out of him. I liked him, he is not an easy "A" but is really cool on the term paper.
PY101
He was extraordinarly BLAND. there was no interaction what so ever. he read from the powerpoint ONLY and talked monotone the whole time. i asked him if the book was necessary to bring to class and he saif "i dont care. do what you want. i dont even care if you come to class" *shrugging* so i dropped his class.i might as well read from the book.
PY102
All he does is read from powerpoints and ramble for awhile. Barely lets you take notes. Your whole grade is based off of 3 exams and thats pretty much it. He's pretty monotone when he speaks. not very interested in students. a paper at the end may be given to boost your grade (about 5 pages) if he feels like it. never used the book in class.
