Professor Volkmer is very knowledgable and detailed in his lectures, however he spends the majority of the semester focusing on the pentateuch, primarily Genesis. Lectures tend to be dry and boring, but your only homework is to read the whole Old Testament and write a current event paper. Take this if you want an easy class.

He is really boring but his face is nice to look at! The class is super easy and he is a nice grader. This was my favorite class!

Riveting lectures and allows a lot of time for questions and prayer requests. The Bible is the only text book for this class. And reading log is the bulk of your grade that you turn in on the day of the final. Minimal Quizzes and tests. He's personable and helps you get a better understanding of the Old Testament, especially Genesis.

Volkmers class is really easy. If your looking for engaging coursework and captivating lectures that will leave you asking for me, you probably won't find it here. He is very mundane, does not take attendance, and drops the two lowest pop quiz scores. As long as you attend class at least once a month, you'll pass.

Volkmer is one of the best profs I have ever had. He is super chill, really funny, and just a nice guy. He points out a lot of really interesting things and relates the OT to today. I wish I could take every Bible class with him. He is awesome.
OTBibl
He is such a great teacher, I thought he provided both views, not equally all the time but he still did. At the beginning of the year I did not really listen but towards the middle I put my computer away and really listened and im so glad I did. He is so intelligent and wish I could take more classes with him.
OT1
I selected his class because I heard it was easy and that we read through the whole Old Testament. However, I was disappointed in his class. From August to November, he lectured on Genesis alone. He pushed for a belief in an old earth and local flood without equally presenting the other side. Homework: reading log, two 3-5 page papers, and quizzes.

Not as good as Talley, but knows his stuff and lectures are usually pretty good. The problem is that he lectures on stuff but doesn't really TEACH it. It's best to just listen in class than to scribble down everything he says. Not the most organized, though, and not a fan of his tweeting system at all. But otherwise very easy prof.

I loved Volkmer! I wish he'd been able to cover all the OT books in class - he has so much good stuff to say but just went a little slow. No papers, two tests. Attendance not mandatory but he does give pop quizzes. Tests are also based off lectures and a portion of the grade is tweeting a thought after each class. Would definitely take him again!

Super easy class! A great class to take if most of your other classes are hard. 2 tests (all ppts on blackboard), tweet, easy pop quizzes, and NO PAPERS TO WRITE! Just read the OT. I'd still recommend Talley if you want to learn more about the OT. Volkmer shares a lot of his personal views and doesnt get into all the books (mostly just genesis!)

Didn't hold my attention very well. Not a lot of homework. Sometimes gives roundabout answers.
PentBBST
Very nice and cares about his students a lot. He makes assignments so that students really learn. While the class (Pentateuch) focused mostly on Genesis and we didn't even make it to Deut, I learned so much. The material is fairly challenging, so be ready to take notes and pay attention.

Super easy class. a couple pop quizzes. 1 quiz on the books of the OT a midterm and a final then super easy reflection papers. I hardly went to class, he put the power point on blackboard

Prof volkmer is an excellent dude. went to oxford and has excellent wisdom in the OT. Class requires you to read the whole OT which is where most of your grade is based on, but he shares a lot of insight throughout his class, a truly sweet man of God. TAKE HIS CLASS!!

Have to have a Twitter account, need to make it to class so you can do twitter and listen to notes but I guess you don't really have to be there. Two tests, easy enough
