If your interested in religion, then you will really like this class. if you're not, then he'll bore you to death. There are four papers. 6-8 pages each and he grades them tough. So put time into them because those are the only grades for the whole course. no extra credit and attendance is mandatory. He's super intelligent though. Interesting class

This was the first class that I literally hated going to. He is very knowledgable but talks and talks and talks about nothing specific. No exams, lots of papers because he cancelled class for jewish holidays. Avoid him if possible.. no point to go to lectures except for the fact that he takes attendance. UGH

Dr. Shokek's class was very interesting in that we (as a class) learned about Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (monotheism, worship, ritual practices, etc). The class is extremely easy and laid back; 3 papers on 5 topics. I wish the class engaged in more dialogue; it was just the professor talking (most of the time). A very good class; take it!

Wonderful professor! If you're seriously into the subject, Dr. Shokek is your guy. His lectures are so engaging because this man is bursting at the seams with worldly knowledge. He's very clear and easy to understand. The only grades are three short papers on vocab, but don't slack off on those! He won't go easy on you if you're just fluffing.
