I took Lievens for both 118a/b (got A-for both courses), and then I took Nasiri 118c during summer session (B+). I think you are definitely able to get A in Nasiri's class as long as you beat the curve. Make sure you study every mechanism in her class, and then go to sasc workshop. Reading book is not necessary.

I had heard so many stories that the professor is very difficult, but you should not buy into it, because she is so helpful and clear in what she wants you to know. Her old exams are not really helpful, but studying her notes ensures that you will get an A. Everything from mechanisms to the type of synthesis problem will have been shown in lecture.

I've heard horror stories about her but I've learned they are all wrong. She's one of the best professors I've had. She really explains things which helps you understand why something happens instead of you trying to memorize things. Her curve is amazing and her exams aren't too bad if you study.

to get the grade you want, go to her lectures, go to her office hours for questions on what you don't get, her test are basically 0.5 the textbook and 0.5 her lecture. Beware of her final and quizzes, quiz topics are 95% lectures and 5% lab.

Her set curve makes the class really easy, 75% is an A-. You can't complain with that honestly. Moreover, her test is strickly from her notes, there is no surpise on the exam, and her notes are pretty organized(if you take notes carefully). She makes tons of mistakes which can be confusing, but go clarify with her.at least 20~25% ppl got A- I think

Best Ochem professor ever! I had her for 118B and 118C. Studying from the book is not as important as studying the lectures, as she only puts mechanisms on her tests that she has gone over in lecture. Making flashcards is very helpful. Another review said a B=76%, however from my understanding a 76% will get you an A-.

Must attend class and follow every mechanism in detail. I got high B's on the midterms and thought they were fair but the final was ridiculous. Class avg was about a 60%. Very happy with the class, learned a lot.

Nasiri is a very clear and precise lecturer. She goes into detail and elaborates on every mechanism. People give her bad ratings because they study incorrectly for her test. She does not write the test, the TA does. Awesome professor and pushed my understanding of not only organic chemistry, but also refreshed my General Chemistry concepts.

Kind of hard to understand, but nice lady with clear lectures. Labs are pretty easy and you get to work alone; huge plus. Exams seemed really off topic and unpredictable, but the curve helps.

I love Nasiri. People think her accent is heavy but if you really listen closely to what she's saying--it's really not that bad. She is super helpful and really does care about her students doing well. Ochem is just a hard subject, go to office hours, study everyday and you will do well.

This class is HARD. Going to lectures is NOT enough; attend the workshops offered by the SASC and Chem Specialists and do EVERY problem set and practice exam you can find. Also, the Classical Notes from the MU were EXTREMELY helpful and MUCH clearer than her lectures. She does have a static curve, all I know is a B=~76%. I'll likely be retaking :(

Lectures are pretty clear for the most part except sometimes off topic. There is a curve but tests are EXTREMELY HARD and off-topic. Averages were in the 50s, which is pretty low for a lab class. Labs were not bad, but exams are too hard for this class, the final contained irrelevant questions. Book somewhat helps. Requires lab reports which are EZ

Very difficult class but as long as you study A LOT, do practice problems, and really know her notes, you will pass. It will really help if you can find some of her past exams from previous years.

Difficult tests (nice curve) but she gives you very detailed lectures with the necessary, albeit somewhat undisclosed, information in class. If you study adequately isn't too difficult to get an A or a B.

Worst prof I have ever had in my life. I was a straight A student before taking her class, and will be retaking 118c now :( Exams are very difficult and her lectures are very confusing. I feel that I learned absolutly nothing from her. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I got A's in 118A and 118B with Nasiri, but a B+ in 118C. Dunno if I was losing steam or if the material was harder. Really do your best on the quizzes & labs. Averages for midterms 1 & 2 were 50% without the curve. Final was slightly easier. Mechanisms were more complicated in this class. If you're used to her style, take her again. She's sweet.

Only one phrase I have for students who care about their future. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, take this class. It will be a waste of your time and you will learn NOTHING. Nothing. If you think I am wrong, good luck.

Please, if you have the decision, do not take Nasiri for any of the 118 series. She wasted my time during lecture because her mechanisms were all over the place. I asked countless of students around me like a headless chicken to understand what was going on and nobody understood either.
