This wasn't too difficult of a class but if you slacked early on, it would be difficult to pull out a good grade. If you attend classes regularly and participate, then you'll do well.

By far the easiest class I ever had. All you had to do was study the powerpoints and lecture notes. He was easygoing and did not antagonize students. Lectures could be dry at times but still informative. You don't really need the textbook.

Pretty good teacher, willing to help you if you approach him directly. Lots of quizzes but he drops the lowest two scores. Tough on the papers but he only wants to make you a better writer. Shows movies to illustrate time periods which is cool.

Most of the test material was covered in his lectures which he diligently posted on Blackboard. I got more out of that class since Mr. Whitney clearly believes that history encompasses culture, art, and ideas instead of just politics and war. It was a lot of work but the people complaining here probably failed because they didn't want to work.

This professor is the worst professor I have ever had. I absolutely love history and in fact wanted to be a history teacher at one time. T. His lectures are useless and when you ask him questions about the lecture he can't even answer. He turned the history class into a humanities and an English class. Do not take him, you will regret it!

One word to describe Prof. Whitney: HORRIBLE! He has to be one of the worst professors at this school. He basically teaches what he wants to (i.e philosophy and art) and NOTHING about history. His tests make NO SENSE and cover material irrelevant to American history. Do not bother wasting your money on the book because he doesn?t even teach from it

The worst teacher I have ever had. He teaches philosophy not history. You may as well not buy the book he doesnt follow it. His quizzes and tests are obscure. He is obsessed with art and Charles Darwin and will do his best to press both upon you every chance he gets. He grades papers as if you were an english major and doesnt explain anything.
