Professor Martinez was excellent! I love how he engaged the entire class is literature discussions, and how EVERYBODY had a turn at participating. This is a literature class, so keep in mind that all assigned reading material must be done prior to attending the next class, because you WILL get tested. This professor is worth taking!!!!

Donato is the best English Professor i have come across. if you are big in your Hispanic culture he is the professor you are looking for. Coming into his class i HATED English. After his class writting to me became easy. He does regire you to write atleat 6 essays but they are fun, and he gives you about 2 weeks to write each one.

I took english 101(emphasis on chicano literature) with Professor Martinez back in 2005. He's a great professor and we read very interesting books with emphasis on Chicano literature. If you work hard you will get a decent grade in his class. He cares about his students and tries to help every way he can.

Good class discussions. Makes class enjoyable, read 2 books for the whole semester. Not many test but essays almost every week real hard grader thou. Overall great teacher although beware of his cussing.

His an amazing teacher. Read the material and you will do fine in the quizzes. The class mostly consist of class discussions, but you learn a lot from it. I had a great experience taking his class. His also a very understanding teacher.

Martinez challenges students to write well -- because that is his job. Read the material, read outside sources, and write at the college level and Martinez will reward you. He won't knock you for a comma splice as much as he will knock you for an incoherent sentence. He relates well with students and current events in his subjects, so no whining.

I took 3 out of 4 ENG classes w/ Donato. ENG 61, 101, and 102. I enjoyed them all, teaches differently from other professors. He is a hard grader when it comes down to the essays, best thing you can do to get an A in the class is going to the writing center for help. Overall he is an awesome teacher! Definitely one of my favorite professors at SAC.

BEWARE! His grading scale is very irrational. He assigns work out of the blue. Overall, reminded me of a class taken in high school. Worst experience.. ever!

martinez is an awesome teacher!.he makes the class really fun and yes he does favor some students but nothing wrong with that..you just have to do your work n turn it on time and youll pass the class for sure!.theres rarely any tests or quiz..

Good class discussions, but the professor seems very unorganized. Assigns assignments not mentioned on the syllabus and he favorites some students while he picks on others. Also, beware of his grading scale. I do not recommend him if you are someone concerned about your g.p.a.

Martinez is a great prof. His essay grading can be a little irrational at times, but you likely won't find the class hard at all. There is a good amount of reading every week, so you need to be prepared. However, class discussions are fun and engaging for these readings. He's also got a great social personality. Recommended!

Martinez is by far the best English teacher I've ever been instructed by. He doesn't make you read awhole lot but it is lit. so you will have to read a little. Essays are pretty easy topics based on readings & discussions in class. He really has a love for lit. & has a very fun & interesting way of teaching. Very laidback professor. Best Prof. !
