HST 203 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

McCarthy is an acquired taste, you will either love his class,or dread every moment of it. I'm a History major and his lecture style left alot to be desired. I hear his upper level courses are much different but if you are not a HST major and have to take history,do not take McCarthy. You will hate yourself in the morning.

HST 203 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

I really enjoy Dr. McCarthy, although I can see why some people wouldn't. He knows everything about history. He basically gives you his tests beforehand which is nice, but he grades hard, so make sure you have it all memorized! His class really isn't that bad though. Just sit in the front to force yourself to listen, his lectures can be loooong.

HST 203 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: N/A

Even if you are a History major you do not want to take this class. Far too hard for a 200 level class and he'll spend half the semester trying to convince you that you are less of a student if you don't go on one of his vaunted sea study semesters. If you are not prepared to do at least 3 hours of reading a night,do not take this class!!!

HST 203 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Barely cracked it open Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

This class is pretty boring. He talks extremely fast and his powerpoints are not useful. They are just outlines for him to speak from. There are 5 or 6 books that you have to read throughout the semester, ranging from 250-700 pages. The tests are pretty difficult unless you put in a good amount of studying. Definitely not the easy grade I hoped for

HST 203 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

The class is harder than you think - the tests are fairly easy but he grades the essay VERY TOUGHLY. He posts powerpoints but they're just very basic outlines of what he says in class. TONS OF READING for this class, and quizzes on the books. Take him if you're really into history, because he sort of treats everyone like a history major.

SHS210 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: N/A

Never take this course if it's offered again. I enrolled in Science, Humanities and Society thinking it actually had something to do with one of those subjects. Turns out it was just a critical thinking class. I don't feel like I've actually learned anything and you get zero feed back on grades until the end. Goals of assignments are poorly defined

HST 203 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Nice guy, really funny, but a very difficult class. Cram all the information you can into the exam essays, and write very clearly for the paper and you'll probably be fine, but make sure you show up to class even though it isn't mandatory. Take good notes, attend review sessions, and you'll be fine.

HST102 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

Excellent professor. I'm a history major, so I probably didn't treat the material with the proper respect, but I enjoyed getting my B-. His analysis is extremely in depth considering the length of time covered. If you want to fulfill your Basic Studies History requirement and not feel like you're in Community College while doing it, take McCarthy.

HIST203 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

McCarthy is an amazing professor! The class is moderately difficult and you actually have to show up, but if you put in the work you'll be fine. Attend class and do all of the reading and you will be fine. Loved the Class!!!!

This class is harder than you think it will be. Make sure you go and take notes because the powerpoints are more like outlines than actual information. He gives you study guides for tests but wants you to include what he says in class, not just wiki everything. also be sure to put ALOT of info on your test. not an easy a, but worth taking
