Fundamentals of Electronic Media Production was one of the least enjoyable experiences of my life. Final exam was 30 questions worth 200 points. Nothing we discussed with incorrect answers on multiple choice questions. Ask upperclassmen about 'Hartley' 'Clem's Gun Shop' and 'Weebly'. You'll get a synopsis of how sick minded he is. I got an A BTW.

Fun and relatively class!! I learned a ton. BTW, a "ridiculous" amount of work? You're joking, right? There are no papers. There is no assigned reading other than a few handouts. In radio, he explains the studio, gives a self-administered (optional) tutorial and has a video online. If you can't learn a basic radio studio, don't major in media.

I hated this class. I went to class every single day and when it came time to go in the studios, I was still lost. None of what he teaches in class is relevant. You're pretty much on your own to teach yourself. Ridiculous amount of work for an INTRO class (and most of it is outside of the classroom). Avoid him if you can

BROP111 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

I've come to the conclusion that if you're going in to B-casting, you'll learn to like him but if not, you're probably not going to like him. I'm with the latter. He was disrespectful with outrageously high expectations for an INTRO class. Tough grader who will make you earn your grade but will make you feel like an idiot in the process.

I got a good grade in this class, but most people did not like the class or his attitude. The grading isn't bad but his attitude is really tough and it gets old after awhile. HOWEVER, I would guess that most TV directors are kind of like him. Making talk shows in his class feels like football practice. Prepared to get yelled at.

Matt...he's probably one of the most helpful teachers I've met. It's not that his class is easy, it's professional. He'll teach you broadcast as long as you shut up and listen, and everything you need to know will be taught crystal clear. He knows his stuff, and he knows how to give amazing criticism. Wish all my teachers were this helpful.

TVProd Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

Matt is great teacher that really knows his stuff. TV prod requires a ton of outside class time work, so I would suggest you get to work on your movie as soon as possible. Matt's tests are pretty tough, and do require studying, but this course is not hard to score a B or better in if you put forth the effort.

The class was actually pretty challenging. I struggled to get a B. I had TV production in high school and thought it would be a cakewalk. But Rouch teaches at a high professional level and I realize now my HS classes were really just learning equipment, not doing "real" production. Great class.

This is my second class with Matt. He is a great teacher that knows the buiz. He does expect a great deal out of his students and there is a great deal of out of class work, but it is by no means a difficult class. Study up for the tests as they are fairly tough.

Matt Rouch is a very smart guy. I think that a lot of people don't like him because instead of automatically giving you respect, he makes you earn it. He has great insight into the world of broadcasting. His classes are the ones you need to take in order to prepare yourself for the real world.

It's true that Matt Rouch knows his stuff. He's a very intelligent guy. The class can be intimidating at times so you have to always know what's going on. I learned A LOT in this class. It was fun to take and Matt has a good sense of humor about a lot of things. Be sure to take good notes and you'll be fine for the tests. Great class!

Decent teacher. Tries to intimidate students out of the broadcasting business. A lot of work outside of class. Impossible A, but as long as you go to every class and take good notes a B is reachable.

This guy should really be at a better university than Northwest. Great class for a girl like me, but here, when people skip class and find themselves lost, many really believe it's the teacher's fault. Sorry to say there are some very clueless students here, and they do poorly in Matt Rouch classes. I can tell it's frustrating for him.

Matt is an awesome teacher for motivated students and smart students. Slackers and students with big egos hate him. I loved his classes, and would take another with him. You have to pay attention and take notes and he grades rather tough, but hey, this is college. Crystal clear explanations of complex stuff.
