This class is a lot of work. You'll have homework that you need to do everyday, not just for the grade but to keep up in the class too. Tests are difficult but there is a curve, and also there are plenty of opportunities for extra credit via twitter. Would recommend only if you have an actual interest in astronomy, not a class for an easy grade

Zirul is a great professor and explains very well. The students that say bad things about him are just lazy. He let's you use all your notes for exams including calculators. His labs are always fun. It is very easy to get a good grade in his class. He is very generous with his grading scale. He used to teach physics at UW so you know he's good.

Dr.Zirul may not be the best for Physics 110 but he was perfect for Physics 201. Almost everyone got a 4.0 at the end of the quarter. He is very generous with his grading. An overall grade of 80% or above is a 4.0, 60% is 3.0, and 40% is 2.0. Gives a lot of extra credit. Always available after class and he does have office hours. Teaches perfectly!

No office hours at all. If you have a question regarding homework after class ended, he doesn't even have time to stay after. The questions you ask, does not clarify, instead he asks you a question that is irrelevant. He goes of topic a lot. Makes you rely on the internet, textbook, youtube, etc. He is lazy, very lazy.

His class is only hard if you don't study but it's very fun cuz hes so enthusiastic. Only has HW every two days and has an easy grading scale (80% is a 4.0) Only thing to be careful about are exams. Make sure you ask EXACTLY how he wants you to answer or you'll lose points. Let us use 1 pg notes on exams tho. Its very easy to contact him for help.

Literally the worst teacher at Highline. He gives no feedback on assignments/labs/exams. He does not care whether students succeed in class since he is working on his phd which means he has no office hours and is extremely hard to communicate with outside of class. SERIOUSLY DO NOT TAKE HIM! It's worth waiting a quarter for someone else.

Teacher has no people skills and cannot relate to students at all. Does not care if you succeed in his class. All the learning is done on your own. Homework/tests are very hard and he doesnt go over equations in class. Most unhelpful teacher I've ever had in my life. He will never give you a straight foward answer on anything. Dont take this class!

Grading is very difficult and the tests are not very easy. You cover a lot of material, so you really have to make it to class. Stay on top of your mastering physics homework, don't miss one. The homework will be the only thing keeping your grade going. It is def not an Intro class, so don't expect it to be easy.

You will have to work to get a good grade in this class. He is very good at answering your questions and you will understand the material if you complete and understand the work. Very good teacher in astronomy.

Great teacher! My favorite teacher at this school! The class was fun and interesting. The homework was never too hard, but yes there is homework every night. I actually came to appreciate this b/c if you did the homework every night you would do well on the exams. He is a nice guy and he REALLY wants to help you so don't hesitate to ask questions!

this class is not for non-science majors. if you want to learn physics on your own then this is a good class, however i needed a grade. 60% is a high on most tests, and 2 hours atleast of homework + Quiz each night. VERY Interesting to listen to and talk to, Very hard to learn from. you must be a grad student or above to do well.

Great teacher! (At least for astronomy, haven't taken his other classes). Lots of material to cover though. Lots of studying, and going over crazy ideas that give headaches, but once it hits, it's worth it. I love astronomy now that i took his class. It was tough, but rewarding. You will learn!!!Ask him what his current 'spaceporn' is. LOL

Although there were 5 hours of homework, asking questions every day in a forum, and using the internet to find the answers because the answers are more conceptual than straightforward, 80% is required for a 4.0, 60% is for a 3.0, etc. It's probably not recommended to do full time classes (Luckily, I had classes that don't have as much homework).

He is the most vague and unhelpful teacher I ever had. He never answers your question. He will just ask you more and think you got it. Gives an excruciating amount of HW every night. The avg on his tests is below a 50% which are ridiculous. I DO NOT recommend him to anyone.

He gives 80% is a 4 in his class but youll still most likely fail his class. He gives out pretty hard homework everyday and might kick you out of class if you dont ask questions on angel before every chapter. I thought this class would be easier than a normal class since its specifically for NON-SCIENCE MAJORS a normal physics class is easier
