His tests are fairly easy and are basically word for word what is gone over on the lecture handouts. However, he makes you bring lecture notes that are word for word what is on the slide making going to class not very helpful. He is incredibly unapproachable. He takes forever to put things like grades up.

I like Dr. Gallik! He is a nice guy and is helpful if you need him. The tests are difficult, but as long as you study the lecture handouts you should do fine (and he gives like chances to get at least 10 points of EC on each exam). Also helpful for Pre-Med. Lab is super easy.

Gallik is an overall good professor. All his tests are based off the material he covered on his slides during class. His lab test are hard, but just study the lab notebook. He is not very approachable...but I would definitely take him for biology anyways. PS. He offers lots of extra credit opportunities to help boost your grade.

Very clear on what you need to know during lecture. Everything is in slides. Tests you on pretty much everything. He does test you on the assigned readings. somtimes a few oddly worded questions on test but rare. Lab exams can be hard due to poorly worded questions and students messing with microscope.

He was very difficult and hard but he spelled out all that was needed to take the exams and made sure that you did not have an excuse to fail. I recommend that you study at least 2 weeks in advance though if you want that A.

Good professor. Some people don't like him because you have to actually study for his tests and put some work into the class. He doesn't tolerate stupidity. Works for me.

He's a good teacher, and he's passionate about his subject - unfortunately, he's so unapproachable and isn't helpful outside of class. His tests force you to memorize small details, so go over every portion of every lecture, and maybe the book too. I for one put a ridiculous amount of time into studying for the tests, but it still didn't pay off.

I agree with the below commment, you hate him or love him. his teaching style in universal and once you figure out his testing methods they are easy to study. assigns a maybe 1 reading per exam...make sure to know this material! take him!!! the cell bio online manual is really helpful and creates less work for you. histology- know details

He's the kind of teacher you either love or hate. He can be rough in cell biology since most students are sophomores and some of them aren't serious about bio. Easy to study for - use the powerpoints and any assigned questions, skim the text. Once you prove yourself to him, he's a nice enough guy. Not as bad as most people say.

My favorite biology professor. He is so passionately loves what he teaches even though he is NOT approachable. Literally just memorize the notes word for word. Cool thing about this class is you get two take home exams (four exams in total) and some really easy assignments that boost your grade. He repeats things and really simplifies them.

Ok so yes he is very enthusiastic about the material, but that's about all i can say on the positive side. He goes through very large amounts of material, and expects you to know everything down the the last detail. Study HARD!

Very very hard tests. Prepare to spend hours upon hours studying. Nearly impossible to get an A.

He's HILARIOUS! He gets so into the material; it's the funniest thing I've ever seen. Biology is obviously his life. He puts all the material that go on the tests on powerpoints that you can access over blackboard so attendance isn't mandatory but the only grades you get are on exams.

All things considered, he isn't that bad at all. His tests ARE long, but if you actually do the homework, the sample problems before the test, and read over the lecture outlines, you will do fine. Homework is minimal at best. Be a student and you will be fine.

He is the best professor I've had a UMW. The material is all covered in class and he provides handouts before and ppt's after. Study and memorize and learn the information from class and do the homework questions and you'll get an A. Do not ask questions in class, instead review and see him in office hours if you still have questions.

I thought he was a great prof. repeats some things excessively...kinda funny, but is because he loves the subject. The tests are from the HW and lecture material. Bonus Questions on all tests are word for word from a HW question. Just show up to class and pay attention and you'll do fine. And he is very approachable.
