History 1312 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: A+

The class is built around Bateman's lectures and he delivers them in one of the loudest voices you will ever hear. no joke. He teaches thinking over facts and has a way of testing that which you will find VERY easy to complete .Mostly Painless way to take history. He is not like any other teacher you will have.

I have had him for both US classes and he is an electrifying and manful speaker although I do not understand much what he says. He reminds me of seeing in person Reverend Jesse Jackson although Dr Bateman is a White professor. He reaches out.

Teacher / student fantasies can run wild while Dexter talks about musclemen and his admiration of Clarence Thomas. He hates busy work and grading / feedback but is a big hand holder and esteem booster so everyone's a winner with him.

This is a mandatory class for hist maj - Bateman will take you through step by step. His advice on topic research and how to stay on track/motivated is excellent. No reason to fail this class other than losing steam while writing paper and throwing in the towel. Don't give up! He's ready to listen and talk through ideas.

Professor Bateman doesn't talk down to you but I think he assumes you know way more about history than you do. However I got an A so maybe that is not the case. He is as it says on here involved in bodybuilding and weight lifting and will sometimes lecture on it. He is friendly and stays after class to talk.

HIST 3317 Taken for Credit:Yes Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

This is a law history class that is part of the prelaw major. This professor is a lawyer and the method of study is a case by case method. He is also a serious athlete who has done different activities including bodybuilding. His life stories offer some perspectives that I enjoyed hearing. The case book he uses is $$$ but it is key on test study.

He is young, charming, and lovable. He has a very strong speaking voice. The class he teaches has extra credit from visits by his friends at newspapers and from the Law Center where he is director. There is so much extra credit that it is hard not to make a good grade. Recommend!

Awesome guy! Attendance isn't mandatory, but during his lectures he reads out the most important passages from our readings that WILL BE ON THE TEST, so you practically don't have to read at all (even though he assigns quite a bit). There are 3 papers, but he gives you 8 opportunities, so you can pick which ones you want to do. Highly recommend!

Sometimes he would come in and lay down a good lecture. Most of the time he had enthusiasm, otherwise seemed real busy. Grades are up and down here since theres this TA but he grades some and is easy. Students sleep even during the good lectures and he finds it funny and does not look down his nose at you. has Attendance grade and text book.

HIST 3317 - American Legal History - This is a legal history class, meant for LAW MAJORS. I would not suggest taking this class if you don't find studying little known supreme court cases for an entire semester. His style of teaching is rather unclear and drawn out. Not for people other than law majors. Essay tests are easy, course load very high.

If you need a favor or want to genuinely advance your career JUST ASK HIM IN HIS OFFICE. What is written on this site about forms and recommendation letters is true. Not only did he write my form but he followed up with me afterwards about it. Class was okay for an early morning class but I docked a point bc of attendance.

This was a decent class for what it was. There is no PowerPoint or blackboard but he sticks to syllabus and mostly boring slavery lectures follow the readings. I was not happy with the TA paper grade since the comments were random but it did not change my final grade. Tells you over again what to study for tests, that's nice.

A "Chili Pepper" worthy teacher whose class is way too easy. After talking to him I thought the class would be hard and that he would have tough standards. He motivated me to study hard for the first exam expecting a challenge and then I got a high grade and did not care as much.

His legal history is specific and duels with things that happened in the last twenty years. Occasionally the lectures caught my ear but I was there to finish a requirement. The other person is right about the most important thing. Very easy A or B in a high level class.

An easy way to take US Hist at UTA. If you don't mind an attendance grade for lecture. I benefited from that because I had an 86 or 87 going into the final and finished with an A. Attendance is such a huge part of the grade. Lectures are whatever but he is sorta hot. He tells the class to shut up if talking but did not care if you sleep or daydream

I had Professor Bateman for Legal History. Possibly the easiest course you could take at UTA. He seems all business but is in fact slack and easygoing. If you are one of the five people (I was) he pays attention to he will tell you. He even gives rankings on tests and assignment. Have fun counting the number of alligator polos he wears.
