Funny, smart, and clear. But his introduction to american history class is not at the intro level. There is A LOT of reading and expected weekly papers. I would not take this class if I could do it over

Class is not that bad.. if you like history. Don't have to attend class- must attend discussion sections. Reading and response papers once a week. No in class assignments, all take home.

If you are thinking about taking American History, take it with Brunsman! He is wonderful and a real joy. He is the one of the most professional and one of the least patronizing Princeton grads you will meet! His class was fun, the workload was not bad, and you only had to write short essays-- NO TESTS! Glad I took him. Work hard and get that A.

Wow what a guy! No tests or quizzes in the class just essays every other week or so. Denver is a seasoned vet and can spice up even the most boring of subjects. He will even remember your name!! The TA's were great too and definitely gave you many opportunities to succeed.

This class was absolutely ridiculous for an Intro level. Writing in Discipline classes at GW don't even make you write 11 papers. The TAs for this class were terrible too! They would mark your grade down on a paper for the most ridiculous and minute reasons. Prof Brunsman is very personable but he needs to lower his expectations for intro classes.

Professor Brunsman is a great professor, and a great lecturer. However the workload is pretty large, with 8 small papers and 3 large papers (midterm and 2 final papers), and if you have a bad TA like I did, its not pleasant. If you're really into history, take it, but be prepared for a fair amount of work.

Denver Brunsman is a wonderful wonderful person. However his intro level American history course expects entirely too much of its students. Its more characteristic of a 2000-level or 3000-level class. I don't recommend it if you are just looking to fulfill a GPAC humanities requirement. If you love history and are willing to put the time in take it

What a blessing to have Denver as my first professor, his eloquence and grace along with a quick wit will keep the class interesting. He will even learn your name and come to discussions!

Professor Brunsman was engaging, helpful, and accessible. If you have any interest in taking Intro to American History, definitely do - expectations were clear, the weekly questions for discussion and 8 short papers in the course of the term were easily manageable.

Took a writing-intensive Major Intoductory Seminar with Brunsman, on his particular area of expertise; it was extremely enlightening and challenging and enjoyable. He was great at incorporating the DC area's resources into the class. Brunsman has a tendency to make terrible puns, but that's my only complaint about his teaching!

Prof. Brunsman is one of the best professors in the history dept. and at GW generally. The class is quite edifying and he's just an awesome person. His class is heavy on writing (weekly writing assignments + several papers), so if you read the books relatively intermittently and are a mediocre writer you'll be fine. Take this class!

With GW's intellectual and academic reputation in question these days, Brunsman has single-handedly brought professionalism, respect, and esteem to the History Dept.

Not a History major, so it was a bit difficult for me churning out weekly response papers (2 pages), and several essays (the final was also just a 5-7 page essay). That said, Prof Brunsman was extremely helpful and really clear. Loved him! P.S. believe it or not, everyone arrived really early to class and it was difficult finding a seat everyday.

It was GW's lucky day when they hired Professor Brunsman, and my lucky day when I decided to take his class. We have interesting discussions, most of our work is opinion based. Lots of reading, but keep in mind that all Professor Brunsman really wants is to hear that you're engaged in the material, and your opinion. Amazing. Wonderful. Thanks, sir.

New professor. He's extremely knowledgable and is willing to give students the help they need. His lectures aren't that boring and you get a strong understanding of the era from the class.

I hate history, but I found his class really interesting. He doesn't take attendance, everybody shows up anyway! Also, I loved how he was so organized and had everything already laid out to a T on day one in the syllabus.
