Amazing Professor! It was my favorite class of the quarter and I was so happy to finally get an A in a bio class. Definitely take this professor!

A really conscientious, caring professor. Also volunteers at the school free clinic for homeless people. Used humor and clinical stories in lectures. Though BICD100 is a huge class, Dr. John made the extra effort to learn your name if you came to office hours or asked him questions. Taking a class from a real doctor rocks!

The lectures were exciting and the professor had a lot of clinical examples. The exams (mixture of multiple choice and free response) were pretty straightforward if you studied. Mastering Genetics helps to keep you up to speed. The professor is very sweet and animated; he makes genetics interesting. Best upper div bio experience so far!

Very good professor. A little stern about not letting you turn in late assignments, but generally very reasonable. Seemed to really care about teaching and making sure you understand the materials. If you get a chance, go to his office hours. Great teaching there!

As a non bio major, he made the class incredibly understandable. really, all you need is the BILD 1-3 series to fully grasp these concepts. homework and quiz section are so helpful. He has a stutter but its not distracting at all

Best professor I ever had. He made dull information interesting and engaging. He's funny and positive. His tests are not too bad and actually test you on concepts you should know. Definitely take his class!

This class is my favorite class! Curington is so funny! I just love attending lecture because he stutters and the things he say can be very funny. He has a great sense of humor. Sometimes he may be a bit boring when he just repeats himself like 3 times or even 4 times and when he just reads the slides. But still I love him and his class! :D

One of my favorite lecturers at UCSD and it was his first time teaching BICD 100. His midterm was easy (his first test written) while his final was fair. People eased off thinking that his final was going to be easy as well but he explicitly said that it was going to be harder than the "easy" midterm. These people shouldn't cry about their grades.

Decent guy. Took over the course from another professor. Very clear lectures. Seemed enthusiastic. Brought in lots of clinical examples. Had very interesting and useful office hours. Grading was a little on the easy side, but that's OK by me.

Replaced Ghiara for Genetics in the fall. Gave an easy midterm, but screwed us over on the final exam. My A went down to a B really not happy about it and his supposed curve ended up hurting me because I got the questions he didnt count correct. Lectures were straight from slides word for word, really boring. Nice guy, but beware of easiness.
