"Inspirational" "Tough Grader"

His class is somewhat interesting. However, don't expect his essay prompts to be clear. They are often vague and he himself does not know what he wants from us. Yes, it is a good thing that he wants to interact with the students and allow them to explore ideas together. However, at the end of the day, everyone just wants a grade and get out.

"Amazing lectures" "Respected by students" "Gives good feedback"

I loved that he was open to discussions and wanted to hear more from the students. He regularly offered "rough draft days" where he would go over the current essay assigned and proofread the essay personally before you turned them in. Just be sure to go to his office hours if needed! The writer's reference was not mandatory (which saved me $!!)

"Would take again" "Amazing lectures" "Gives good feedback"

I suppose I have the right to give a review having taken him for both 1A and 1B. The overall lectures in the class are very interesting. As for the papers it's difficult to do but somehow I managed to get an A for all the papers. He lets you do revisions which most people did to improve your grade. You'll work hard for the A's. I got both for 1A1B

"Tough Grader" "Gives good feedback" "Papers? More like novels"

He is a cool professor but grades ridiculously hard! He makes English a fun subject and has a lot of energy for it. The problem with him is the papers you have to write. It is almost impossible to get an A on a paper and there are TONS of papers. You just want to cry after you see your grade after you get your papers back.

This professor is pretty rad. He is very passionate about work. He has a strong ego. This class can be an easy A if you agree with his ego and what he reps, but if you disagree...kiss that A goodbye. Ex. Of rep: "FEMINIsm = EQUAL rights"- R.C. Marhiene.

This was not your traditional English course--it was a hodgepodge of English, Political Science, History, and Political Theory. It won't teach you the necessary tools used to deconstruct literature, but it was a good class. It's best to regurgitate what Marheine spews to get a good grade. Deconstructing literature for its aesthetic value won't.

Probably one of the most intelligent professors at PCC and the best. You will learn so much and his papers are extremely easy to write on because the class lectures are interesting. If you are going to take 1c you should take him

His English class is not just some English class! You learn about political science, sociology, psychology, philosophy, and history as well. He also has a great sense of humor and he keeps his lectures interesting. A very approachable professor as well.

This professor is amazing. He is such an intellect and really challenges you. Really has a passion for what he does! But heed my warning, if you do not like writing or are not very good at it, be weary! He will tear you to shreds, and this is coming from someone who enjoys writing. He expects college level material, which is what should be expected

His class has been a life-changing experience. He is one of those professors who truly care about his students' future. He lays out what he expects from the essays clearly and gives constructive feedback. Allows students with poor essay grades to rewrite the essay for a better grade. A great teacher for both life and academics.

Pro. Marheine is a nice fellow that loves to talk about history, politics, and real world problems we face today. He assigns a couple of essays based on short passeges from the books he assigns. Not hard of a class at all. I took 17 units this semester and I passed his class with a B. I could have gotten an A but I slacked off a little. Take him

Fantastic professor. Interesting & engaging. Incorporates current events into lectures to bring real world application to the classroom. Emphasis on critical thinking skills. Lots of writing. Not that easy a grader. Expects college level writing ability. He is well worth the work. Need more profs at PCC like him!

Extremely good professor. One of the few teachers that doesn't bore me in class. Not that difficult if you show up and pay attention to class discussions. Not a typical English class...heavy focus on history and politics. You'll learn a lot as well.
