She is a nice person. You can work all the probelms in the book that does not mean youa re going to pass her tests. When you go to her office, she might tell you that you are understanding the subject. However, when it comes to test time, it is another story. However, i like hard professors like her because they maje you improve yourself.

Took her class in 2010 summer. Going to medical school now. Best science prof a person could have. Still using orgo chem in my biochem and pharm courses. Do your homework 3 times before a test through out the week and you'll be fine. THREE TIMES!!!

Dr. Montgomery (now Hessel) is a great professor. Her class is hard (just like every other Organic class out there) but when you leave her class you know that she did her job 100% - she is completely prepared for class every time and doesn't waste any time. Good sense of humor too.

She's awesome! Took it over the summer, and yes it's intense and you will have to dedicate a lot of time for studying. The tests can be challenging but there are no surprises, everything she talks about in class is what's on the test. It's organic chemistry folks, if you want an easy class then your change your major, these upper level classes just keep getting harder. But if you want a teacher is organized, clear, helpful and isn't trying trick you then pick Dr. Montgomery, best science teacher

Having mediocre lectures and then rounding up the hardest test questions you can find (whether the topic has been covered or not) does not make someone a good prof. Fine, hold your students to high standards, but the prof. also has a duty to prepare you for such demands. Skimpy office hours and often hard to talk with during or outside of class.

Oh my goodness! where do I start? she's a good teacher, and tries to get the class involved, like that about her. BUT, the test prep doesn't help, and she's hard with her test! 3 tests and final is from ACS. If you study really, really hard and get some outside help, you'll be fine with a B

She writes her exams to test you on whether you really understood the material. They are pretty straight forward but you need to have done a lot of work to prepare for it. Yea you can get an A in her class if you put in real effort.

She is a great lecturer. I agree with most people, whom think that they understand the material in class but then bomb the tests. Do not be mistaken. You most likely do NOT know the first thing about O- Chemistry. She gives 5-10 point curves on her tests, you will need every point you can get. Try not to combine w/ another science class Good Luck!

Dr. Montgomery is a great lecturer and I always feel like I understand the information she is teaching in class, however, the tests are quite hard! I do recommend her, but definitely get the Organic Chem as a Second Language book from the bookstore, it helps a lot!

I took Org I and II during the summer with Dr. Montgomery. I'm incredibly happy that I took both courses with her. She is a truly talented teacher & kind and funny. She makes sure to drill the basics for a great foundation in org chem. If you're going to take it in the summer, make sure to have several hours a day nearly every day to study.

Totally hot!!! She doesn't really use the text book and instead has prepared her own notes that you can buy in the copy center. Her tests are much harder than her homework and she doesn't handle questions in lecture very well.

Awesome professor. Her and Qavi are both excellent although she's a little more clear. Opportunities for extra points in class if you get up and work problems (although no one seems to want to do this). Oh yeah and you can write orgo songs for a few points as well (same thing with that). Totally hot by the way.

showing up to class is a must!!!!!!! she's very very very clear on explaining the material, but don't be fooled the exams are not a joke. the textbook will be your best friend through out the semester, trust me everything is in it. you will need to study the subject religiously to be able to pass.

her lectures makes the material seem very easy, but her test are super hard.Doing the hw problems in the book doesn't help, because her test are not based on the hw.

Dr. Montgomery is a very good teacher. She speaks with clarity and wisdom. Don't get behind though - otherwise you won't be able to catch up! Don't miss any days. Tests are hard but they were discussed in lecture so pay attention. Also, she hates when you walk in late too =X

Ridiculous! Brutal! All I can say is that the homework and reading wasn't enough--then where should you turn for additional help? She's not the person who will help you. She doesn't respond well to questions and expects you to already know everything. I thought I was taking the class to learn, not be talked down to. Worst experience ever!

she's very hard on the final exam she tested us over stuff we never went over. she gives about 4 to 6 point curve on each test cause a huge majority of the class always fail the test. she may seem nice but its an act. behind that fake smile is a hideous person. if u take the class, prepare to study at least 3 hour/day and you'll be lucky to get a C

I took org chem 1 with this prof. She teaches like the concepts in a simple way but then tests you very hard. She curves by 4 to 10 points ONLY bcs people end up having very low grades. I had a C (I have a 3.8 gpa). Even if you practice with with the homework in the textbook, it will not be enough to fully grasp on what she expects you to know
