Just read the lectures online and the textbook if your still confused. Attendance is not required, he just goes over the slides and might do a practice problem. Exams are super tough and you can lose points for anything. Week online homework is also assigned.

"Lectures are long"

Probably the most boring professor. Lectures are long and very boring. Just read the textbook and you'll pass the exams and class easy. Practice exams are basically the exact same as the exams. Overall a terrible professor, but a passable class if you teach yourself.

Keister is one of the most boring professors you could have at UB. His lectures are the worst but powerpoints are online. The test averages were around 60 but you can easily get an 80 if you READ THE TEXTBOOK. The exams are basically the same as the practice exams which helps a bit. Overall, chemistry sucks and Keister makes it worse

This mofo needs to get himself a new microphone and a haircut. He yells at you for not asking questions and needs a new wardrobe. He NEVER explains anything and no one has any idea what's going on in his class.

Going to lecture is pointless, your better off just reading the textbook. Not to mention that his notes are already online, you can just read those and understand it better, making lecture useless. Very boring and horrible at teaching.

CHE 107 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

Keister's lectures are basically supplemental to the textbook. Theoretically, you could probably skip all of his lectures and just read the textbook thoroughly, and you'll be fine. Keister isn't super-clear about the material, and he doesn't do very many practice problems. Go to recitation, understand the homework, and definitely read the textbook.

Took him during summer, bombed first exam w/a F. Completed course w/ A-. Just do practice tests over&over he uses the same questions over&over. Go to TA for help READ TEXTBOOK. He's not that bad, just try and pay attention but doing practice tests will give you an A in the course.

Stopped going to lecture because I couldn't understand a word he said. I taught myself using the textbook. After I started teaching myself, my grades improved.

Went to about 3 lectures at the beginning of the semester. I ended up with an A-. He pretty much reads off slides, you're better off just learning things online and doing the HW. Recitation can help, labs are tedious and pointless.

A very good professor. You just have to know what he is thinking to be able to get a good grade, and you will be able to do so just by attending class and doing your homework. If not, then good luck failing. He is always ready to answer questions. You will learn so much from him.

If you are good at chem, you will do fine in the class. But if you're like me, not a chem person at all, then you need to work really hard. He makes things complicated and is kind of boring, I honestly learn better watching MIT/khanacademy videos. Go to ur TA if they're good. If CHE107 is required for you, be prepared for all nighters.

I took this over the summer. Ok class, failed the 1st exam but passed with A-, got an A on everything else. He's very nice and approachable but u will get confused and not know how to ask right questions. TAs are helpful if u get a good 1, go to office hours and Rec for extra help. Labs graded by accuracy not by correct calc. Overall, ok class

I loved this professor! He was super nice. Looking at past exams that he provided helped with studying. I was never bored during lecture. He's very clear and uses good analogies to explain hard topics. Def would recommend him! I was afraid of Chem before!!

Its so easy to just not go to class, pretty boring. But i've found that when you actually listen and pay attention he does teach the material well. All you need for the test is last year's copy which is available and you'll do good.

Dr. Keister is a great guy, class is boring and easy to not focus but he does a good job teaching and if you pay attention you actually learn a lot. Even in a big lecture hall he stops frequently to ask and make sure people understand. Tests are easy, gives practice tests that are exactly the same. Overall great teacher I would recommend him

Sooo Boring. That about sums him up. He puts a practice exam online for each test, including the final. Study them! The final had some questions that were identical. As long as you do the homeworks, try to pay attention, do all your labs, and ask good questions/pay attention in recitation, you'll be fine. Just don't ask to be awake during lecture.

Simply just terrible. Try to be in any chemistry class besides his. Going to class is pointless because he does not explain well and then repeats his bad explanation when people ask questions. Tests have information not on in lecture so you must look at last years tests to study.

Never went to class because of how boring it was, i ended up with a c in the class without studying for any of the exams. Exams are a majority of the grade which means one bad one and youre in for a rough semester, im glad i escaped with a passing grade.
