There is a lot of reading required for this class and Dr. C can be demanding during the discussions. Overall is a fair grader, but considers addressing everything in the prompt a C and you must go above and beyond to get a better grade. He made the class enjoyable though.

Fair grader, helpful if you go to office hours or stay after class. Very willing to work with you on essays or drafts. Expects a lot of reading.

he's a nice guy, and very helpful with office hours, but his class seemed to drag on and was extremely boring. he grades fairly, and if i remember correctly i got a B on every single project, and a B over all in the class

If you are a good/decent writer you will be fine in his class. You write bout 4 papers and do individual readings out of real texts book. He is helpful in his office hours. However, he doesn't ever make eye contact with his students. He looks about 1ft above your head.

Attendance was "mandatory" but you were allowed 2 full weeks before it started counting against you which I thought was incredibly lenient. Class could definitely be boring sometimes, but Dr. Colby was very friendly and quite approachable, and always cleared up any confusion I had. If you want to get a good grade, you need to put the effort in.

Class was very boring. I found it nearly impossible to pay attention in class. I was unable to achieve an A on any of the papers, and sometimes I couldn't tell what he wanted from the papers.

Professor Colby was a helpful, decent professor. Despite the other negative reviews of him, I thought he was a great english professor. If you take advantage of his office hours, he is extremely helpful and as long as you follow his guidelines and put effort into the assignments, you'll do fine in the class.

Professor Colby's class is extremely boring, and he does refuse to look at the class while speaking. However, he can be very helpful and grades fairly.

Very hard to pay attention to his lectures. Reading quizzes are the only homework. He's pretty picky on how you answer things or address ideas in your writing. If you write your paper strictly in line with the rubric, you can make an A on the papers, but the topics are painfully boring. The class is passable, but takes serious discipline!!

I did the homework and spent hours on the papers and would not get a good enough grade. If you ask for help he's not very willing to give it. No one in the class got a very good grade on any of the papers regardless of time and effort spent on them.

Pretty decent professor. He is very monotone but he's pretty interesting if you can focus on his lectures. Grading is fair. I made great grades on his papers- Read his instruction sheets for papers very carefully. He is very clear but it is easy to misunderstand the projects.

Mr. Colby was honestly the best english teacher I ever had. I made A's on all my papers and thought the class was kinda boring, but english is always going to be boring.
