CIS 105

Can't say much about the professor but the course didn't teach me much. Make sure to write down the simnet steps, assignments disappear after the deadline & you won't be able to review it for the exam. For the module exams you have to read the book and understand it.Weird questions but I guess it's easier online as you can use your notes for exams.

This class consists of 8 weeks of excel lectures and 8 weeks of vba lectures, with an excel project that you come up with at the end. There is also a midterm and a final. The lectures walk you through all the assignments and all the answers to questions can be found by googling it. If you have any experience with coding this is an easy A.

Not sure I understand the vitriol towards this professor on here, as I have had a couple bad teachers at ASU and Ms. Hayes is not one of them. Took the course online and it was an easy A. Course is half Excel and half VBA. Watch lectures, do examples, ask questions (the answers come quick on the DB despite what others say) and you'll do fine.

She is a poor professor teaching an easy course. She accidentally took points off on an assignment for me and did not give me the points back because she was offended I questioned her. Don't recommend.

Advanced Excel in Business Course. Terribly conflicted. The class contains incredibly useful information and I have learned a lot about how to use Excel, Visual Basics. But the lectures are confusing and go really quickly and really slowly. Overall, it is a really useful and easy course and I would recommend it.

i suggest starting all assignments early in the week, so if you have questions you have time to get them answered. some things you can't move on with the assignment if you dont. it sucks that there are no tutors available to help you. every detail you miss loses you a point, so don't rush to get it done. test aren't the easiest, know the terms!

I took this class online and received an A relative ease. The test questions can all be found in the textbook and Professor Hayes has a discussion board set up where she quickly answers questions regarding the class, this seems to be the easiest and quickest way to contact her. If you need to take CIS105 I highly recommend taking it online.

This is the worst teacher I have ever had at ASU. Colleen is unhelpful and makes students feel like a burden. Her powerpointes are useless- I told her they don't help and she told me to watch again until I understand. Do not take any of her classes.

She is not an overly competent teacher. On every single exam that I've taken I've found mistakes, where the correct answer was marked wrong and I could find the answer in the book. The book is fairly helpful but the modules are confusing, outdated and really do not express the content well. She is not overly easy to talk to either.

This professor clearly does little to no work throughout the semester. She churns out the same terrible power points each semester and does not update them. They are confusing and unhelpful. This class should not be called Advanced Excel when the majority of the class is spent on VBA. Her exams are worded poorly and her grading is subjective.

Terrible class to take. Do not take this teacher!! I took the course online and the exams make no sense of the readings. Plus she gives us too little time to complete the exams. I definitely suggest you not to take this class!!!

be aware of this teacher and this class. when you ask for help at the discussion board, she will not help you. You basically are on your own. If you want to pass this class, you better know how to design websites and know how to work around a computer. I passed BUT i done sites before, you may not.exams make no sense & she isn't clear on anything.

Interesting class, disappointing professor. No required book - She puts up a PowerPoint of the lecture which does not provide sufficient information. She also has a zip file of her lecture which could be helpful if she could only present it well. Instructions are vague - ask for clarification, she re-states vague instruction. Exams are subjective.

I expected to learn a lot more than I did. Submits are easy if you have any experience in HTML, Photoshop or Dreamweaver. Only 2 tests, but they seem to be more subjective than they should be. Not an unbearable workload, but this class doesn't count for anything, so avoid unless you want an easy A.

Teacher is not helpful with questions, only is on campus to help once a week. Is very vague about assignments then expects students to know what is expected.
CIS300
An online class. The professor just directs you to the helpdesk or tells you to review the material if you have questions. Material is disorganized & all over course blackboard. Her online lectures aren't helpful either. Seriously good luck in this class. You have to use 7 programs, which aren't reviewed with you prior to the week assign.
CIS425
Professor Hayes doesn't require a textbook and provides 10 tutorials about web developing. After the first 10 weeks, there is a final project that is 5 times more complicated than the tutorials & she expects you to "Google" them. Her reason for assigning this makes sense but her approach to it is ridiculous. Bottom line, she has high expectations.
CIS425
She literally doesn't teach anything in this class. She gives you tutorials and about 25 hours of homework each week and expects you to teach yourself. Spends class time complaining about how she has to grade our work. Often ends class with "dont bother emailing me because I wont respond." Literally the worst educator I have had at ASU.
CIS300
Waste of time. Submits force you to do everything that you should not do. Material is outdated. If you have built a website any time after 2000 you already know more than she does. Terrible grammar and spelling, instructions are poor because of it. Exam questions are written terribly. Easy A if you know web design, doesn't give A+.
