Great at delivering concepts and lectures were always interesting, however, his exams are very hard. If econ is not something you care for and you only want the marks...LOOK ELSEWHERE. You really need to appreciate the course to do well. But, if econ is something you plan to purse, then this prof is strongly recommended.

I am halfway through Econ 103 online with Allen. The textbook presents the material in unique and interesting ways, and the assignments are reasonable. However, even though I have been averaging 90% on the assignments I think I failed the midterm. His questions are very hard. They felt like trick questions! Beware of this.

CYA Doug Allen. So glad to be done with your ridiculous class. The material is interesting but you are an evil person who tries to trick your students.....and you are sort of a hypocrit unfortuntely....teaching Econ as a religion to be learned in 3 months complete with a combination of tricks does not make test time fun. Overall not a bad prof considering supposed to be one of the hardest 100 level classes. His book, supposedly simplifies concepts actually is very wordy and a little bit too abstract. Whoa! I gotta step in here! Doug is an AWESOME prof and you are better off having taken a class with him. He makes econ interesting, and expects you to understand the underlying principles. Whats so bad about that?

Do NOT take the course with this guy unless you know how to study and have taken CALCULUS. Memorize all the diagrams and all of the concepts. Practice finding equilibrium prices, and how to find differences in profits and stuff like that. This guy is a goofball. He is like a Ned Flanders.

Do not take this class with him. The textbook doesn't help. Does not give practice midterm or final. Rushed lectures since he was behind. Textbook is somewhat insignificant for the exams.

Horrible prof. Lectures are entertaining but spends too much time of useless crap like indepth examples of farming his family. at times offensive to women. content is advanced but doable, text book sucks, recommend not to take 103 with this prof he really isn't any good if you wanna understand econ

nice guy but the class is really hard for a 100 econ class. You need to understand the concepts really well to do good in his class. Examples apply to real life but, not very clear in his explainations.
