If you have a class with this professor, DROP NOW. He constantly makes mistakes on the board, explains things that are irrelevant to the class expects you to know random info for the exams. I dropped this class b/c I was failing and took again w/ a different professor and received an A.

I went and met with this professor, and as a person he was very nice and interested in my struggles and progress as a student. However, as a teacher, the way the class was taught didn't make sense, he was hard to understand, and was self proclaimed to be falling "deeper and deeper into his senescence". Also, my TA barely spoke english.

This guy makes you prove a lot of theorems. He also put on the midterm i just took something that nobody knew what to do with. The secant concavity theorem. He gave a list of proofs he said might appear on the exam the week before the midterm, but this was not one of them. I had to leave the page blank.

hands down worst professor i've ever had. extremely unorganized, unhelpful, and does not know how to teach what he is supposed to be teaching. the board is a mess when he writes on it, and he constantly erases notes because students always find errors in his work. avoid if possible, if not, be prepared to learn yourself.

THIS GUY CAN'T TEACH (and he admits it too)! Must learn the material on your own...and he misses appointments. I am very lucky to have a good TA; otherwise I would have flunk this class already. If you need this material own the road, AVOID AT ALL COST....

I ended up working really hard to get an AB...If you take this class you have to be adept at teaching yourself the material. Make sure you have a good TA because it is almost impossible to learn from the lectures and the notes provided...If possible I would take this class from a different professor. He is a nice guy but he isn't the best teacher

Horrible, avoid at all costs. I have always liked math until I took his class. Never uses the book and his lectures will just confuse you. Smart guy but he should definitely not be teaching this course.

Had him for 221&222. Wow,it's been a love hate relatnshp with this guy. He really is a nice guy but wow sometimes its too much. Perpetual confusion. Hands out "lecture notes"-HW problems in it are ridiculous...to the point where your performance in the class rides completely on the level of your TA's competence/level of caring. One midterm, 40%=D/F

Lectures are almost pointless, the guy makes so many mistakes, the only reason I might do OK in the class is because of my awesome TA Kostas. Definitely look elsewhere for a Math 222 Prof.

I Love math & was looking forward to calc. I had already taken HS calc before& we learned the same exact things i had learned the previous yr, Yet I managed to do horrible on the exams. Lectures were pointless, I went to every single one &it didnt help. Some people do well in his class, but if you don't NATURALLy get math, DON"T take with JOEL

At first i didn't not like Robbin at all. He is confusing in lecture but if you go everyday and stop by his office hours when you're confused you can get great grades. He's such a nice guy, funny, and sweet. Don't be shy to stop by his office and have him clarify. Getting a good TA helps too. His tests are very easy if you do all the homework.

The nice thing about taking Robbin, is that you dont need to go to lecture. He just gets confused and in turn confuses you much more. I just learned from the book. He's a nice guy, but he shouldn't teach.

You could tell Joel really cared about his students, but he was not a good lecturer. He constantly made mistakes and would start over just to do it wrong again, so he was hard to follow. He does however have great lecture notes and his tests are fair and not bad if you do the homework. If you have a good TA, his class is doable...

Avoid this guy at all costs. His lectures are completely pointless. I stopped going to them after a month of going and sleeping through every single one. His tests are very hard, but graded on a curve so it doesn't really matter. There is no required homework either. It's hard to do well in a class where the professor rambles through lectures.

Joel isn't very clear, he confused me on things I already knew how to do and gets confused easily. Tests aren't too hard if you don't listen to him and learn from your TA.

Professor Robbin goes off on tangents a lot. Very unclear and made mistakes all the time in lecture. It was so hard to stay awake and pay attention that i decided not to attend lecture. I ended up doing very poorly in the class, but at least he dropped one of three midterm grades. I would try and take this class with a different prof.

Prof. Robbins is like a jolly grandpa but not one who does a good job at teaching math. I freaked out at the beginning of the semester until I realized that it wasn't my fault that I was confused and lost. Lectures are pretty pointless expect to find out what you need to read in the textbook for. The tests are not insanely hard though.

The class is extremely unorganized. You're better off learning from the book than trying to decipher what the prof just said in lecture. He once spent an entire 1 hour 15 minute lecture on one problem that he claimed was ambiguous. He constantly changes his syllabus, but doesn't update it properly, so good luck knowing what your grade is.
