Oh man. I really liked Chemistry, especially Organic, and Dr. Brown is starting to make me hate it. He doesn't give partial credit, even if you get 99% of the answer right. He gives 20 question tests and if you miss one thing, automatic 5 point deduction. He comes in late to class and rambles about stuff that has nothing to do w/ the exam. AVOID!

AVOID BROWN AT ALL COSTS. 1st exam I got an 80. 2nd exam, class average of 56.12, 15 point curve, only 1 A in the whole class. Over half the class has dropped since the start. Med school hopefuls: avoid him. He loves the material but is spastic at best. His tests are ridiculous, multiple answers for one question, must get all to get points.

He is usually an organic teacher, but rumor has it he was so bad they moved him to 101. Do not expect this class to be easy. You will be your own teacher, you will need to read the book, and he will curve the tests so the average is a 70. His office hours are useful if you come in with specific questions, but lectures are jumbled a best.

Probably the worst teacher I've ever had. I went to lecture for the first few weeks before realizing they were just a huge waste of time. I tried to understand what he was saying, but the guy is simply not cut out for teaching. He needs to stick to research and never step foot in a classroom or lecture hall ever again. Made my 1st semester a PITA.

Dr Brown is usually an organic chemistry teacher, but if you have him for CH 101, be prepared to not understand anything and be confused for the majority of the semester. He's a really interesting guy with an alright sense of humor but his method of teaching really sucks. If you ask for help he will go out of his way to help you solve your problem

This guy is the worst teacher i have ever had and ever will have in my life. He does not teach. He does not know the material himself. His test averages are in the 50s and 60s and he excludes grades below 20's from the average so he bumps it to a 65 average and gives a 4pt curve. Still half the class under 60 on tests. He is too stubborn to curve.

Brown makes Chemistry way more harder and confusing than it needs to be. I attend every single lecture and get absolutely NOTHING out of them. The only way I learn in this class is by going to SI and doing problems in the book. I love Chemistry as a subject, I would NEVER take him again.

Doesn't know what he's talking about. Tests have nothing to do with the material he covers in class. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

Most of the material from the tests is not covered in class, but comes off exercises from the book. He likes to put one difficult question on each test, and the tests are 25 questions, short answer, and no partial credit. However, if you can teach yourself and do the exercises from the book that he recommends, the tests should be easy.

He's a very interesting guy. He hates Web assign so much he made them give us a refund. Tests are difficult but doable. He likes to blow stuff up. And he's a nice guy. If you get stuck with him you should be ok.

Literally the worst teacher I have ever had. I am a Chemistry major and was actually really excited to be taking organic. He ruined it for me! It was painful to sit through his class and I always felt helpless. He screams the information. I am completely ill-prepared for the next level of organic chemistry. If Chem is your major, DO NOT TAKE!!

Dr. Brown's lectures are really hard to follow at times. He does not prepare notes before class, he comes in and just starts teaching and writing on the chalkboard. He also says that certain things will be on the test and then they will not be on there at all. Take a different professor if possible.

Awful teaching methods. If you don't live by the book, then this class will be impossible.

Brown is a good teacher contrary to what a lot of students say. He is definitely spastic but if you take good notes in and out of class (more out than in) you will be fine. He gives large curves (25 pts on one of my tests) so, if you tend to stay ahead of the class anyway he will give you an A or B. Go to SI though, it is extremely beneficial.

He was not helpful at all because he didnt have any practice problems, just his one example in class and his tests were impossible. He was very excited and cheerful to teach but the way he went about teaching this course was absurd, should of assigned extra practice problems to help out. Either you get it or you don't in his class.

Knows his stuff, but cant break it down for students trying to learn. His lectures are sporatic, he can cover two chapters in 50 minutes. But when you go to study the chapters it all seems like new material, and then the test questions are nothing like what he teaches or what the book teaches. Don't take if possible, if you think ch is hard

PB is an awesome guy. He is a good teacher if you pay attention and buy into his system. I had to use the book alot because he is kinda spastic. His tests are hard but just read the book and know your stuff and you should be able to stay ahead of the curve. ps this dude should have been a stand up comedian

He was most definitely an expert in chemistry. However he was a horrible teacher in that he did not know how to explain things clearly and he jumped all over the place in his lectures. His tests were extremely difficult but he did give good curves.
