Chem 121 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: N/A

Took Cook in the summer for Chem 121. Waste of my time to attend class. He rants and raves about his travels, England, British, Poland, Cambridge, Oxford, etc. Useless videos - tests were alright. Practice tests helped some. He threw in curve balls, his grading system doesn't make sense. Overall, wouldn't recommend him to anyone! Plain and simple.

I already have a bachelors degree and am obtaining a second one. This is the worst class in my college career. Prof Cook doesn't teach anything at all. He spends the class time talking about his travels and random science facts. You are on your own for learning the subject. The tests are the same as the practice exams. Memorize them and you'll pass

Brilliant guy but can't teach to save his life. Most lectures are about his random adventures and history. Learned nothing.

I truly believe that Dr. Cook is a brilliant guy with a lot of knowledge of Chemistry but he did not teach anything. No calculations. The exams are 20-25 multiple choice. No calculator needed. The lowest grade you can get is a 70. The few times that I asked questions, they weren't really answered. I am sad that I have to retake this class :(

I have no idea how students rate Dr Cook so highly. He knows his chemistry, but it doesn't mean he knows how to teach it. Took him for Chem1 and learned nothing, so I pretty much had to take him for The 3 remaining classes. Four semesters later with decent grades and still don't know the subject. If you want to learn chem, take someone else.

He is a World traveled Chemistry Scholar! He teaches, Chemistry, taught Physics, Calculus, Astronomy. he employs a "T" score that is statistically valid so 50 is a B, and lab grades if you get "10" points x 10 labs that's 1 test grade of 100 that brings test grade up. His teaching method takes the fright out of Chemistry, take him you'll love Chem!

CHEM121 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

Lectures aren't very helpful towards the tests, but nevertheless they are entertaining. He's always willing to help if you ask. He posts practice tests which are usually the same or similar to the actual tests. Tests are easy for chem, hardly any calculations. Read the text, ask questions, do the practice tests and you have atleast a B+ if not A

Lecturing skills are not very good. Overly pedantic and talks about his adventures / random topics for at least half of the class. In the last week of class you will have to fly through the other half of the material because he spent too much time talking about himself in the first few weeks. If the grade is all that matters, take this class.

I like Dr. Cook, he is not for everyone. He puts chemistry in a real world perspective understanding that there probably are not many great chemists coming from the Tunxis program. He knows everything about anything and should be a contestant on Jeopardy. He will send out many comments that will fly over the head of most, but he knows who gets it.

His lectures are comprised of a power point presentation of the book. He basically reads the book to you with very little in the way of explaination of the material. I will say his class is interesting if you want a historical view of the world, he could probably do a better lecture in history. Huge curves, last test average was 54.

Dr. Cook is an extremely brilliant professor with a huge library of knowledge. He has the ability and desire to relay the material to students through interesting and practical lectures. As with all classes the work done outside class is necessary and beneficial but makes it much easier to fully embrace the color that Dr. Cook brings to the subject

His lectures are totally useless. He loves to hear himself talk about himself and the things he has done - places he has been. Totally unrelated to chemistry. I had tests where I got a "50" and that was curved to an A. If you want an easy grade, take the class- if you want to learn chemistry - stay away!

Mr. Cook is what your looking for if you are a female looking to get a good grade for doing nothing. He doesnt explain good and has a reputation for passing students to make himself look better to faculty. He loves the girls too!I got a F but he gave me a B+!I wouldve appreciated someone who actually taught so I could understand it and earn my grade

Rough seas but Dr. Cook rode the waves, hehe. A bit of physics sense of humor. Challenging, but he made it fun. Very fascinating how he connects the dots. It will add another dimension to your life. You will never see things in the same way.

Dr. Cook really makes class very interesting by sharing related life experiences with his witt and humor. He sincerely cares and wants you to succeed. You will need to make an effort with his courses but do have fun with it, it's well worth it. He is always willing to help. Critical thinking skills are a tool we all need and he emphasises that.

Chemistry with cook is the best. the class is hard, but very entertainng. some days you leave class with a stomach ache from laughing to much because the man is absolutely hilarious. if you're a girl he is so much more helpful, but regardless everything he teaches is straightforward. YOU'RE THE MAN COOK!

Dr. Cook's lectures are replete with practical, professional, and didactic references that provide great utility and contribute to the riveting quality of lecture. He is responsive and insightful relating the subject matter to real life situations, culture and world events; it tends to give us self-absorbed Americans a fuller global perspective.
