He was...alright. Going to class was not necessary except for exams. Just use Khan Academy. Professor Kraus is a fair grader and is a very smart person, however, he isn't a very good teacher.

You do not need to go to class except for the 4 exams. Homework is time consuming. He is a very fair grader. Lectures can be useful but only if you have a grasp of the material before, because he does not teach the basics.

The BEST professor. His expectations of the students' abilities are much higher than class expectations, assigns too much work, explains things so well that only a rock could get it, never stops to ask for questions & isn't sensitive to students' reactions to the class or material. Plus, Krauschwitz' class feels like sitting through a prison camp.

If you look for a math teacher, pick this one because his explanations are awesome and the exams are very reasonable. NO complains

His homeworks were very similar to the tests and the examples done in class. His proofs (the point of the class) were straight forward and if you caught a mistake, he would admit it. Very fair grader, just write everything down. He doesn't look at students until you make noise so if you have a question, just start talking. I never used the book.

TERRIBLE teacher. Textbook does not help either. All you need to do is study the webassigns for all your quizzes and exams and you should do well.

Take him only if you're a math genius cause that's what he expects everyone in his class to be. He doesn't answer any questions in class cause he assumes you know everything and writes really fast on the board which you won't be able to copy down (I have at least 7 pages of notes). He also mumbles lots of numbers and etc making you want fall asleep

i rarely attend his class but i like this professor because we have quiz in every recitation and we must do homework online, which force me to study math. I like this way. the attendance is not mandatory and what i need to do is just read the textbook and learn myself. He's not a good professor but he's course is awesome

Definitely a proffessor one should try and avoid. His hand moves at a mile a minute and he writes faster than he speaks! Overcomplicates everything! If you are an engineering major, apply early for small groups, cause you will need it. I stopped going to the classes and watched online videos to explain the concepts to me. Find what'll work for you.

HORRIBLE PROFESSOR! Doesn't know how to teach and just rambles on about the topic the whole time without stopping to explain anything or answer any students questions. Spends too much time on simple stuff but blasts past the difficult theories. He spends more time talking to the chalk board then he does to students. AVOID!!!

He's a very smart guy, just has some trouble getting the point across. He ends up telling you a ton of information, but not exactly how to use/get/apply it. It can be hard to get the main idea, because he doesn't explicitly say it. Textbooks are no help at all when it comes to math... so the course is challenging

Nice guy in office hours, but other then that he was one of the hardest professors I've had. I went to almost every class, but still had trouble understanding the material. He would would stand at the front, and just talk at the board while writing notes. Do the HW; it helps alot! I got a B, with no background in Calc. Good luck, you will need it.

His lectures are completely pointless. He stands directly in front of what he's writing and it feels like he always rambles on about derivations, definitions and theorems that we don't even really use. There's quizzes in recitation every week and the online homework is difficult and time consuming. Not to mention you have to pay to use the site.

Dr Kraus is a relatively nice guy, when you approach him outside of class, but is all but useless in lecture. He derives, derives, derives, does a simple example, and then expects you to be able to do 20-25 difficult questions for HW (due each class). Quizzes in rec., so little time for help. Don't try to copy down everything he says, no one can

You can tell by the way he teaches that he is a very brilliant man. But the way he communicates to the class was way above my head. I went into this class not knowing any calc. I went to almost every class and it was no help. He is very helpful in office hours. Quizzes and Webassign acount for 10% of grade combined. got 86,79,84 on tests B+ tot

Kraus makes calculus much morte difficult than it has to be. His practice tests are much easier than the real deal. Also, if you don't write out something exactly the way it should be, he docks you points. He is horrific at explaining things; reading the book is more exciting. The hw takes about 4-5 hours a week, but it is only 4.5% of the grade.

I consider myself a reasonable person, so that out of the way, I dont think anyone else but Krause could have took concepts I already understood, and made them 100X more difficult. He in incomprehensible in lecture, the online HW is insanely difficult and long, and he is a very difficult grader. Take ANY other math professor if possible.

I'm naturally good at and into math, and Kraus is still extremely hard to learn from. He's clearly a good mathematician, but just an awful communicator. He goes very very fast, and doesn't know how to break things down into layman's terms. The guy could make 2+2=4 seem like a String Theory equation. Wish I had taken from someone else.

Kraus is one of those retarded math geniuses. He flies a mile a minute through problems, never stopping to ask if everyone's got it. He's nothing if not honest though-- he states explicitly in his syllabus that he will move fast, and that reading the text on your own is essential. Challenging class from a professor who requires real effort.
