This man is one of the most insightful and openminded professors I've ever had. My favorite professor by far. He is extremely understanding and yet expects a lot. As far as the class itself, it literally changed my perspective on life. If you do the reading you're mind will be blown. Each text is a gem. Asian Great Books is a beautiful thing.

Best teacher I've ever had. If you take Great Books, you MUST have Contino at least once! He is so engaging with his students and I've learned so much.

Even after completing a graduate degree at an Ivy League school, Contino is still the most influential teacher I've ever had. Be prepared to be held to a high standard, but one that will make you a better student, thinker, and even person if you're willing to embrace it. My three classes with him were the most valuable of my education.

An amazing professor and a great friend outside the classroom as well. The class was demanding (unlike certain other Great Books classes I definitely had to read the texts every night) but well worth it. He's also helped me out a great deal with advising and would do anything to help out his students! Holding out hope to take another of his courses

Professor Contino was awesome. He taught our Russian Lit class and had such great insight into the novel. Don't get me wrong, this class is a lot of work though, we read 2000 pages worth of books and wrote 2 12 page essays. Class could be long and exhausting sometimes but he is one teacher who has a zest for his job and challenges you to think!

One of the best professors I have ever had, and I have been trying to get him again ever since. He is in popular demand. He is a fantastic teacher, and a good friend as well. He will help you whether its class related or not, and is always willing to listen. Will help you out of class on papers if asked, and will truely make your Pepp experience.

If you want to learn and experience the text, this is the professor for you. He is the definition of what a college professor should be like; contemporary, knowledgeable, fun and fair. Take him if you want the best experience possible, not if you want an easy A or one you can sleep through.

This professor is not open to creativity. He vaguely knows his material and the most beneficial part of the class is the discussion generated by students when he's finally quiet. Still a worthwhile class, if you enjoyed Great Books, be be prepared to tell him exactly what he wants to hear on his papers!

If you're in Great Books already, you know it's hard, but Contino brings a solid Christian perspective to the class (he started out every class with a prayer). He is also more than willing to help you out to make you a better writer or with whatever.

Not very deep and expects to hear his views parrotted back. Perfect class if you are willing to brownnose and do whatever pleases the teacher. If you have ideas of your own, not so much.
