Pollard thinks he's the man. The class was okay but we covered the same material over and over.

His passion makes learning the material easy. Teaches how to think critically and apply what you know which you can then apply in the real world. People only fail due to laziness. May seem intimidating, just participate in class and OH and you'll earn his respect. Really cool guy, best teacher in college. Inspiring lectures. RELEASE THE HOUNDS.

Hard class. Exams are hard, you must understand the material to do well. Test averages can get down into the high 40's, be prepared.

CHM 151 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Pollard is the bomb. Seriously, take his course if you can. He truly wants you to do well and he tries his best to prepare you for his exams. I still had to study like crazy and use things like clutch prep for extra practice, but I ended with a good grade and I really enjoyed learning chem with him. Take this guy if you can!

I took Dr. Pollard two years ago and was a preceptor for him this past year. I just wanted to point out that the students who gave the class poor ratings did so because they are not motivated. If you are not a motivated student, stay out. But if you are and you are willing to give it your 100%, Dr. Pollard is the BEST option.

Dr. Pollard is an outstanding professor who truly cares about the success of his students. His classes are challenging, but he provides you with all of the resources you need to succeed. Definitely take Chemical Thinking from Dr. Pollard--you will learn a great deal and will enjoy the class, too!

He is an outstanding professor. With that being said, class material requires a lot of individual thinking (it's chemical thinking for a reason). If you do a lot of practice problems, actively participate in class, and go to the various TA and preceptor study sessions, you should do well!

Dr. Pollard was one of my favorite professor my freshmen year. His class and test are difficult but they prepare you for organic chemistry and another upper division chemistry or biology class you will take. Go to class, the review sessions, study, and you'll be fine!

Pollard is seriously the best professor. He really cares for the success of his students. I was apprehensive for taking chemistry at the beginning of the year, but it ended up being my favorite class both semesters. The class may be difficult, but he prepares you with the proper content and thinking for you to succeed in your other classes. Do it!

CHEM 152 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Pollard is seriously the best professor I've ever had and I can attribute my switch to a biochem major because of his class. He made the content of the course funny and interesting; he only had to explain things once for me to understand it. I would highly recommend taking his chemical thinking classes both semesters--it helps a lot for ochem too!

CHEM151152 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

Dr. Pollard is a great guy and good teacher, but the class itself is flawed through it structure. This requires alot of effort and time spent at office hours and grouping together with others to study whic isnt bad but the only problem is everyone in this class is usually stuck up, the lecture is clear but readings are unorganized and unclear.

So organized and clear. Tests are incredibly hard, this class took up 20-30 hours of my week. I am in 152 with a different teacher, and Im amazed at how much further Pollards students are in the curriculum... Find a good preceptor! Read everything he gives you. Watch his youtube vidz. Most entertaining lectures. So clear and organized.

CHEM151 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Pollard is the nicest professor ever. But his teaching method is horribly unsuccessful(alot of people failed). To even get a passing grade in this class you need to study at-least 16 hours a week. If your looking for a hands on professor that will actually teach, pollard is not your man.

I think taking Chemical Thinking was the best decision I've made in college. It's completely unlike the other Gen Chem's, in that it is more difficult, but the material is presented clearly and comprehensively. He is both brilliant and a fantastic teacher. The resources are endless, so USE them. I believe I have preceptor hours to thank for my A!

Pollard is one of the greatest teachers ever. He doesn't just make you regurgitate useless material, but he gives you the tools to actually learn chemistry that you can take with you to other classes. You'll definitely have to put in a lot of effort, but it's worth it! It prepared me for ochem so well that I got an A. He's great!

Pollard is one of those legendary teachers that UA is lucky to have. If you like to learn and be inspired, then he is a passionate prof who values each of his students and his or her deep understanding of the material. Be prepared to study lots, spend time asking questions, and get to know him in office hours. The hard work is MORE than worth it.
