Very helpful professor - willing to help at any time. Lots of independent work, much like PHIL 0500. Tests are fairly straightforward if you know the material.

PHIL0500 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Intro to Logic is a course you MUST read the textbook and do the homework for, since lectures don't help much and recitation time isn't used inefficiently. Also, the course grade is entirely inconsistent, placing far too little importance on homework and quiz grades (you could not do a single hw or quiz and still manage an A, but I doubt it).

He knows his stuff but cannot relate it well in class. The recitations are very helpful. Hard subject in general.

You have to teach this class to yourself, doesn't matter who the professor is. Belnap is not too bad, considering the subject sucks....It could be worse

Not the best professor I've ever had, but not the worst either. Like another user said, I went to class because he was amusing. Also taught myself from the text book. Recitations and keeping up with the homework is important. Don't take this class for anything besides fulfilling a requirement.

PHIL 0500 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: N/A Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

i found the course incredibly easy; taught myself from the book, and only went to lecture in order to smile. belnap is amusing in an i-wish-he-were-my-grandfather kind of way. if you don't want to learn from the book, his examples are very good and clear. the exams are fair.

Excellent Prof. Super nice guy and really cares about the students. Realizes that material can be difficult and grades accordingly. Highly recommended.

Great guy, always available and very helpful. A must if you are going to do a logic class at Pitt.
