Doc is a great teacher. By the end of jazz band practice, he's usually exhausted & lets everyone go early, and the music is not that challenging- but's it's fun to play. Also- if you ask for extra help or anything- he goes out of his way to to help you. If you really want to play better and need more of a challenge, he can help after class.

He is a very eccentric, fun man, who is able to lay the law down when need be. He does it in a humourous fashion however.

Paul LeClair was hands down the worst conductor I have ever worked with. While there's no doubt of his musical ability, his patience and helpfulness are seriously lacking. As for the band itself, it was like playing in a bad highschool band.

Doc is a great professor. Really cares if students do well and always willing to help. He is in love with the subject. If you are interested in jazz definatly take this course.

Doc is one of the best conductors I've ever had in my over 10 years of playing. He'll ask you for more pastabazoule when you play or call you Gertrude. Just try not to be referred to as "Six Thirty."
