Very arrogant. Any time I asked for help he gave a smart butt attitude and just told me to read the material over again. Prep tests are not like real ones since they're much harder. Not recommended for 201.

To be honest, Dr.Terry is very strict and difficult; his tests are hard so you have to really study and understand to make good grades. He is very helpful when you ask questions though he is quite arrogant. I love Professor Terry and I will take his other classes also. In general, he is a great Professor! Highly recommend!!!

Very pompous and arrogant. Doesn't seem like a "general college chemistry" class. He puts trick questions on the test. Would highly recommend a different teacher or taking Chem 201 at a community college

Alot of people dont like him because they think he is intimidating, but hes not. He really cares if you learn the material and is always willing to help you if you go to his office. The class is hard, but he does a really good job with explanations. Alot of studying is required but hes a really good teacher. Tests are MC with a few work problems.

I think he was a great teacher. He answers all your questions and is pretty good at coming up with alternative explanations. He uses PowerPoint a lot and posts them on blackboard so it is easy to catch back. He doesn't do any homework grades though, just his 3 or 4 exams, the lab and a few extra credit points here or there.

One of the worst chemistry professors ever. Practice exams were nothing like the real ones, extremely arrogant, rude and likes to make students who ask questions feel like complete idiots. Please avoid this man at all costs and take someone else.

He is a very hard teacher, and his test for the average person are really difficult. He will help you. He wants you to know the material and concepts in depth. It is recommended that you not ask questions in class unless you want to feel stupid. If you have questions go to his office hours. You will know the material when the class is complete.

McCreary is an excellent scientist, but not the best teacher. He knows his stuff, but he fails to create a good learning environment. I audited because I couldn't manage the material, and I didn't feel as if I could ask him for help. He isn't friendly and he is just plain scary. Has an ego that will beat you up.. I wouldn't recommend him.

McCreary is ridiculous. He gives you good explanations and a practice exam, but they do not correlate with the difficulty of his tests. Half of our class audited (as well as 75% of the other section), he tests over things he does not go over, and he takes your labs occasionally from the TA and destroys them. He has an ego on him too so watch out.

Had him nearly 2 decades ago after having a poor experience with Dr. Hussung. Dr. McCreary was one of the absolute best professors I had at MSU. I loved his warped sense of humor. I had him for both 201 and 202. Don't take him if you don't plan on studying. After all, it's chemistry for Pete's sake.

He is condescending to his students. Did all of the work and still had to audit because I made 40's on his test. Over half the class had audited/dropped 3 months in (initially of 140 + ppl). I'm an A-B student. Retook this semester with Dr Ratliff, got an A. Don't listen to what others said on here if u want to get a good grade

He loves what he does and the students can see that. He is a very explanatory professor and, I believe, that is needed to understand chemistry.

This was a very difficult class. He is a very good teacher and explains things well- however, his tests are very difficult and there are things on there he doesn't cover in class. He is more helpful one-on-one in his office. If you take him, you will really have to work hard to get your A or B.

Not an easy class. Although prep-tests are given, the actual ones are a lot more difficult. You have to study and pay attention. Be prepared and don't ask useless questions if you don't want to be called out on it.

VERY fair Professor. His tests are difficult; but he gives you plenty of prep material. No excuse for failing his class.

McCreary is an excellent teacher. Im not a chemistry person at all but the way he taught it was so clear that even i did fairly well. His tests are definitely not easy but he is very fair and gave us a good curve at the end of the semester.

Quite an ego on him. Seems to think he is better than everyone. Will not listen when students talk - apparently his voice is the only one he feels needs to be heard.

Fabulous- He's allowing me to sit in on his 105 because I couldn't cut it in my 201. His explanation of the material is very clear. I have not seen one ounce of evidence that he has anything but a positive attitude toward his students. very helpful. Gives study sessions before exams and quizzes count as extra credit-and can only help not hurt you.

I had McCreary for che 201 and he was so great that I scheduled my entire next semester around having him for 202. He posts powerpoints and discusses them in class. He is usually in his office if you have any questions. GREAT chemistry techer. However, pay attention and don't ask stupid questions that have already been explained. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
