Her classes seem to be excuses for her to associate everything and anything with homosexuality. That's fine if the subject warrants it, but it hardly does. She doesn't keep records very well, and her attendance policy is when she feels like it. You won't learn anything in this class and although its a lite workload, it's a waste of time.
She is absolutely wonderful. Very personable and prepared. Grades fairly and makes classes very interesting. My only problem I had with her was that she was CONSTANTLY giving away the endings to novels we were scheduled to read later in the semester and I was looking forward to reading them for myself! Other than that she is awesome.
I had her for Lit of Childhood and it was wonderful. It was a summer course, so the reading schedule was really really intense, but that's what the summer is like. Fascinating insights. I'm not an English major, but I would take her again in a heart beat!
Prof. Blackford is extremely personable and really knows her stuff. She always has interesting perspectives on texts (she's really into queer theory right now). Show up to every class, do what's expected, and you will get along with her fine.
